Did many returning Vietnam vets buy the Colt AR-15?

I was in the Army in RVN March 69 to March 70, and had no problems with my M16, although in fairness I was never involved in a major firefight (and I'm not complaining about that!). I have two ARs, bought both of them within a few years after returning. The first is an SP-1 with 4 digit serial...

    Bushmasters Carbon 15 rifle .223

Professional Ordinance I got a Carbon 15 from Professional Ordinance several years ago, I sent it back twice, once for accuracy (they replaced the barrel, and now it shoots almost as well as my Colts), the second time for doubling, they fixed that also. It's a cool rifle, with decent mags it...

    8mm Garand?

I'm with the others who don't see the point, but I'm pretty sure that WW2 (and probably for a long time afterwards) US 30-06 milspec ammo was also corrosive, so that particular issue becomes a wash. IIRC, only the 30 carbine ammo was always noncorrosive.

    Is this "BALLISTICALLY" DUMB?

a slightly contrary view Gamalot, I can't disagree with the other posts - there's no doubt that the 243 has taken many deer. However, in my personal experience, I found that deer I hit with a 243 took a few minutes to figure out that they had been harvested, which usually included running into...

    Levergun in 30-06

another 30-06 lever gun The Winchester model 1895, both original and the recent re-issue, was made in 30-06. I once had an original in 30-40, but not an '06. It's a cool rifle, especially if you're a fan of Teddy Roosevelt.

First range trip with the K31.

I'm a big fan of the K31, but the length of pull of the stock is too short (which increases felt recoil, at least in part because it makes it very difficult to mount the rifle correctly). A good slip-on recoil pad helps the length, and absorbs some of the recoil. The 7.5 Swiss is not a...
