Since this round is somewhat new, you might have to educate your local supplier or special order it.
Most (but not all) Internet suppliers are now shipping the 135-gr. Gold Dot.
FYI Only:
Read a nice public article today in the Guns and Ammo magazine (on page 14) where Payton Miller performed some testing of Speer's new 135-gr. Gold Dot HP.
A summary of the "Chronograph Results" is as follows:
* 2" barrel testing compiled a 5-shot average of 878 fps with a high...
What do you experts suggest are some of the better .357 hunting bullets for light skinned deer?
I don't reload anymore and feel that hard-cast projectiles are overkill; what about using heavy 180-gr. or greater HP's for shooting under 75 yards?
I'm considering Hornady XTP's or Winchester...
.357 Winchester Partition Gold for Self Defense?
I've heard of folks loving the .357 Magnum Winchester Nosler Gold 180-gr. HP for all around self defense and wanted some additional opinions.
I normally carry 125-gr. for SD and wonder if the 180-gr. is overkill and what you experts like for...
Having searched in vain for data on the penetration depths of the .22, could some of you good folks please tell me if there's data out there on how well CCI Stinger or Velocitors perform in gelatin tests - both from short and long barrels?
Thank-you in advance of your assistance!

Just bought some HSM (Hunting Shack) .357 Magnum ammo and sadly discovered tiny rocks in about 35 of 50 HP's (Federal 140-gr. bullets).
After digging out the 2 - 3 rocks in each cavity, I also found 1/2 dozen rounds with tiny holes penetrating past the bottom of the HP cavity and possibly all...

Steve,
Let me dive right in and try to clear things up a bit.
First, many of the rounds listed below are not Hydra Shok rounds so lets start with those. All of the 'Classic' loadings you mentioned...
In most handguns, you'll find that the lighter bullet will shoot lower than their heavier counterparts because:
* A lighter projectile naturally travels out the barrel more quickly - doing so before the muzzle jumps in the air from recoil.
* A heavier bullet is traveling slower and the...
Just wondering why folks are so overly concerned about a certain round going through a bad guy when stats show that only 1 in 5 shots hits the target from only 10' away?
Seems that we're forgetting about the other 4 rounds that missed and who knows where they'll end up.
Please don't get me...
Thanks Mete:
So it looks like the "HS" in the product number and center "post" inside the HP are the keys to identifying Hydra-Shoks - otherwise, the remaining Federal HP's are built like the more traditional cavities of other manufactures.
Ruger P-95 or P-95DC for only $307 at www.ImpactGuns.com with a $9.95 slip-on Hogue Grip.
Rugers are the Rodney Dangerfields of firearms; because they aren't fancy, they get no respect (by those not familiar with them). :D
Federal makes so many variations of the Hydra-Shock that it can be confusing to the average shooter as to what bullet version they're getting.
Can someone please help us understand how Federal has upgraded the Hyrda-Shok bullet over the years?
Many have heard of the recently introduced...
