    .35 Remington handloads are keyholing

It appears there may be some copper at the crown. I've never even thought to look for this before. Any suggestions of products to use to de copper it?

    .35 Remington handloads are keyholing

The Interlocks are a jacketed bullet that measure 0.358. I checked them and they are correct. I haven't run any through the chrony, but wonder if pushing them faster will stabilize them? The .35 is a low pressure cartridge, but the Marlin 336 is in good shape, and should be able to withstand...

    .35 Remington handloads are keyholing

I bought a Marlin 336 .35 Remington a couple of years ago to "match" my Marlin 39A and 39M that are family heirlooms. Iowa has recently allowed the .35 to be used for deer (we were slugs only), so I'm looking for a load. It shot pistol bullets reasonably well, but I finally stumbled upon some...

Hornady FTX 160 grain bullets in a Garand

He probably can load them for the .308, I just wasn't sure how they'd behave if he pushes them hard. He has intention of using the .308 to hunt hogs, but since we live in north central Iowa, that's going to involve traveling a fair distance. We have hogs everywhere around here, but they're all...

Hornady FTX 160 grain bullets in a Garand

My son bought some Hornady FTX 160 gr bullets by mistake for his .308. He's pretty new to reloading and this is his first centerfire rifle. He opened them up to look so returning them is not an option. I've got a couple of Garands that I load 168 gr A Max's with IMR 4064. Is there any reason...

    Sighting in a .308

I tried shooting it again with a bigger target tonight. The first shot was about 6 inches high and six inches left. The next three were in one ragged hole 6 inches high. I adjusted the scope to shoot six inches lower. The next shot was two inches below the bullseye, eight inches lower that...

    Sighting in a .308

Thanks for the replies guys. I did bore sight at 100 yards as well (by looking down the barrel and looking through the scope while solidly sandbagged) and it should have been on paper. My paper plate target is 9" diameter so I figured I'd be on paper with the 35 yard group being so close to...

    Sighting in a .308

My son brought home his latest acquisition. A used Winchester Model 70 Stealth II with a Harris bipod and a BSA Stealth Tactical scope. He tried sighting it in and wasn't having much luck before he got cold. It's about 20 degrees here in Iowa. Actually much warmer than it has been! He left...

    Favorite 220 Swift Load

I'm using 41.0 grains of H380 behind a Hornady 50 grain V-max with a CCI large rifle primer. It runs about 3900 fps out of my Remington 700 VSSF with a 26 inch barrel. It'll shoot half inch groups if I do my part.

    Eotech on a Redhawk

Evidently the Eotech is holding up to the recoil?

    Eotech on a Redhawk

Has anybody ever put an Eotech on a Redhawk? I'd like to try a red dot sight on my .44 Redhawk and was thinking that if I didn't like it I could move it to one of my AR's. Just wondering if an Eotech would be too big and if it would hold up to the recoil of the .44 Magnum.

    55 grainers?

I've been using them for years. 55 grain ballistic tips over 53.0 grains of H380. Just over 4,000 fps out of a plain jane Remington 700 ADL. When I do my part, I can get moa groups out to 200 yards. I don't have a good enough scope or technique to test legitamately beyond that range. The ADL...

How wet to run a 1911 in cold weather

Thanks for all the replies. I don't use it for concealed carry. I have a permit, but that allows us to carry loaded in a vehicle. No real need to carry on a day to day basis here (although the recent convenience store shootings may have me rethinking that). I farm and the 1911 is usually...

How wet to run a 1911 in cold weather

How much lube do I need to run a Kimber Custom Carry II when the weather is cold? I've run several hundred rounds through it with very few FTE, usually on the last round in a mag. Today I shot about fifty rounds and had several FTE. It was certainly due for a good cleaning since it's been...

    .223 question

I've only got twenty loaded. They're full length resized and loaded to specs for overall length. I've got a bullet puller if the need arises. I didn't notice the C on the 27.5 grain load on Hogdons site. Thanks for the help. Any suggstions on a different powder? I'm planning on getting an...

    .223 question

I just started reloading .223. I've loaded .220 Swift, .243, 22-250, and .45ACP for quite a few years. I've used primarily ball powders that meter quite well. I started loading .223 yesterday. I don't even have the rifle yet. I'm loading 26.5 grains of Varget behind a 50 grain V-Max. This...

    Leading question

I just got done cleaning my Kimber after shooting my first .45 reloads through it. I'm loading Missouri Bullet's 230 grain softballs with 4.1 grains of WST. I loaded five up and everything cycled well so I loaded up another fifty and went to the range this weekend. Had a lot of fun...

Newbie questions about loading .45 ACP

ArchAngelCD, thanks for the e-mail addresses. I contacted Hogdon this morning and they replied that WST was WST regardless of the numbers following it. They merely represented the size of container it was sold in. I appreciate everyones input. Thanks. Swift

Newbie questions about loading .45 ACP

I'm still not having any luck finding any information on WST 3. I got the partial container from a guy that borrowed my shotshell reloader when he was shooting on a trap league. I inherited his leftover supplies when he moved and I got my reloader back. I don't shoot many light trap loads and...
