New to muzzleloading - practice powder/bullets/other questions

It is a CVA Wolf with a 24" barrel. Information I've found seems to indicate a 1:28 twist rate. Virginia permits muzzleloaders with scopes. Just double checked that. Hadn't occurred to me to check that, so thank you.

    Thrown off the skeet range!

I was on the wobble stand one field before yours and saw them talking about that. Small world. They should have been more concerned with the new shooters on the stand I was at that didn't seem to be able to remember to open action and thought eye and ear protection were things for other people.

New to muzzleloading - practice powder/bullets/other questions

I've recently gotten into hunting. I'm generally a pistol/shotgun shooter, so the world of optics is a bit foreign to me. Knowing that there is a short muzzleloading season in Virginia, I purchased a CVA Wolf and put my Nikon Prostaff Shotgun 2-7x32 scope on it. All that said, I have a few...

Can someone help me understand scopes a bit better?

I've recently gotten into hunting. That said, I'm going to obtain my own gear for this purpose. I'm generally a pistol/shotgun shooter, so the world of optics is a bit foreign to me. I'm going to be waiting for the right rifle at the right price. My list and options include a savage axis...

Have you ever told someone no?

You really can't see the point you just made, can you? The irony in your entire post is awesome. God, I hope it was intentional. No, no I don't. I hope it is unintentional. That makes it even funnier.

Have you ever told someone no?

This topic pops up from time to time. You get a number of people who think that if you tell someone, "no, you shouldn't own a gun," then you are violating his rights. This isn't true anymore than telling someone to "shut up" is a violation of their rights. I've told several people they should...

Had a thumb safety installed on my G 27, best thing I ever did.

Odd, I rely upon not pulling the trigger when I don't want the gun to fire. Have you tried that?

    Best way to CC

Ok, without getting into all the different methods of carry, sizes of guns, concealability of various size frames and so on, here's what I think and why I think it: 1. Strong side: Fast draw. Not difficult to conceal. Can be worn with most common clothing. 2. Inside the waistband for...

Still new to hunting, looking at deer in Virginia

I've previously posted about appropriate clothing for deer hunting and got excellent and informative responses. I'm now beginning to contemplate what exactly I should be seeking for a deer gun of my own. I'm seeking input based on several guiding points and questions: 1. A friend, who will...

    Bought a Sigma

Being a polymer semiauto with a funky trigger does not essentially make a gun a glock anymore so than saying since you bought a car with four wheels, a spoiler, and no air conditioning means you have a Formula 1 car.

    Carry advice...Sig P229?

A good belt's importance cannot be overstated here. It distributes weight much much better and helps prevent lean and belt sag. If you think you have a good belt, you don't. If you bought a belt specifically for carrying, you might have a good belt. A friend has been carrying a P229 in a...

You gotta love a kid's sense of humor

Dude, you posted the story, not us. I'll say the same thing about jokes with guns that I too often have to say to chuckleheads playing with knives: I've never seen a joke with a gun that ended well. At best, they end with a mild chuckle.

    Right clothing for deer hunting?

Greetings. This is my first foray into the hunting forums. I recently went on my first hunt. Took three pheasants on five opportunities and it altered my perspective on hunting substantially. Going from consumer to a predator is a ponderous event. I fully intend to do that again and I'll be...

    Pirates and Idiots

This thread makes me sad. Not because of the topic or the content but because so much of the spelling and grammar is so lazy as to be near offensive.

    The .327 Federal Magnum~?

If you didn't get it done with 5 rounds of .357, I bet you'd wish you had a 6th round of anything instead of an obscure philosophy about sufficiency of 5 rounds.

    Virginia Arms Co. (Manassas, VA)

Great shop. It takes me less than 5 minutes to drive there from home, and less than 10 minutes from work. I buy any of my major purchases and most of my minor purchases not just because of the reasons listed, but because they continue to support the product/customer even years after having...

Target Shooting - Is Anyone Telling The Truth?

I think many confuse yards for feet. I had a friend who claimed to shoot "dime sized groups" at 100 yards with a Kel-tec sub 2000 open sighted regularly. When we went to the range, I put the carrier half way out at the range. I asked him how far that was. He answered "about 100 yards." It...

Changing My Stance On Open Carry

What state are you suggesting the law be looked up for? The states with the most recent discussion about OC/CC have been CO and PA.

    Woman Harassed for Open Carry

I'm generally one of the few voices here that says it is ok for people to be upset by guns, it is ok for them to ask us not to carry them, it is ok for them to not want it. I draw a very hard line between all that and the point where these people try to legislate their opinion. At this point...

    Entertainment for the night...

Are you serious? Is this really your argument? I've been reading your nonsense wondering just how absurd you can get, and you truly exceeded my expectations. This is a forum, not a court of law. Figure out where you are and learn to have the appropriate conversation.
