    People don't like target shooting?

Some fun, safe variants of things to do at the range: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=587917 I find betting against a friend always makes shooting a little more exciting (Usually we bet a plate of home made cookies!) BTW some new things I've started doing: 1) Playing h.o.r.s.e...

Sig P226 vs. Beretta 92fs: Worth >$200 Difference? >$400? More?

I have smallish hands. I had to replace the physical trigger on my P226 with a "short" trigger, so the pull distance wasn't as much. Strangely, I can pick up anyone's 92 (which actually feels like more of a handful) and shoot it more accurately than my own P226! I think an E2 might be good...

    New SP2022 9mm

Congratulations! I don't own one of those polymer marvels (but I wish I did.) From what I've heard from a friend who owns one (small sample size, I know), they shoot pretty much anything. I also hear they shoot as well as (if not better than) a 226 and cost a lot less. Sounds like a winner.

    92fs or SIG 226 can't run dry?

I do notice that CLP, in particular, seems to "run" downhill. If I put my lightly lubed 226 on a paper towel for say, two months, the "down" side of the outside of the gun will collect a fair amount of CLP and the paper towel will be a little bit wet. The "up" side will be dry.

    Surprised by Glock 30 accuracy

@1KPerDay -- Out of curiosity what part don't you like? The 3 dot part or the night sights? And what do you prefer instead?

    Which Beretta 92?

Thank you all for the additional info. I hadn't considered holster availability as I now live in California and can't carry anymore. Actually, for that matter, I can't even use the 15 (much less 17) round mags. =( And OkieGunner thanks for the info about the Turkish variant! While I'm looking...

    FN Herstal 20+1

Cost aside, these things are a blast to shoot. They shoot like a .22 and other than their bright muzzle blast, you can get them back on target for a follow up mighty quick. They have a huge magazine size but they don't weigh too much loaded. Sure, the controls are a little clicky (no other way...

    Which Beretta 92?

I love the Beretta 92 but can't figure out which variant to get. Anyone have any suggestions? I've seen the comparison charts, but which is "best?" From my understanding the M9A1 sounds the most full featured (except missing the stainless steel of the Inox.) Is that true? How can the M9A1's...

    Shooting with two pistols

But a lot of the desperados were also really good at point shooting from the hip in general. For me, being able to point shoot a single gun from the hip is the impressive part! Two guns? Boring. Now three guns... that would be cool!

    FNH FiveseveN 5.7

I don't own a 5.7 but the few times I've fired it at the range, I loved it. FN was marketing it as a good HD gun for women: http://www.everydaynodaysoff.com/2010/02/16/fn-five-seven-home-defense-for-women/ I could see why FN might market it this way: minimal recoil, tons of rounds, and...

Sig 229 Failure to Feed Problems

When I had something similar happen to me, it was because the follower on the magazine had a slight gouge in it which was hanging up the case and leading to FTF. Maybe take a look at that? (If you can't see it, try a different mag and see if the FTF reproduces.)

Sig p226 users- let me hear your opinions

226 9mm was my first handgun. I love it, but there are somethings I don't like: 1) Trigger reach is a bit much. I installed the short trigger and it feels better, but something to look out for if you have smallish hands. 2) Pointablity. For me the Sig points badly compared to say, a Beretta...

One handed practice? glock trigger squeeze, grip suggestions

Not only does grip strength matter, but shoulder strength is pretty important too. When I shoot one handed, the gun tends to sway up and down slightly, pivoting at my shoulder. Because of the cant, my groups tend to form a bit of a diagonal line. A guy at the range suggested holding a weight...

    "Friendly Looking" Long Gun?

So, California just essentially banned carrying any type of handgun (open or concealed.) The only option left is to open carry Long Guns. However, open carrying an all back AR15 with rails is not exactly the best image to portray. Can you guys think of "friendly" looking long gun that could...

Ever offered your gun at the range?

Happens all the time! People also give each other extra targets when they leave the range and I've given away a box of CCI 22LR that I couldn't carry back with me (flight between range and home.) It's good karma and lots of fun to shoot guns you don't own. However: When I shot some guy's 1911...

Sig Sauer P226 in 45 ACP?

<Deleting cause I didn't read the original post carefully enough. Thought it might be a P220.> But... how would a .45 P226 work? It can't have a staggered column magazine, unless the mag was really fat. You could pad the magazine and make it single stack, but then why not just buy a P220 (which...

    Mec-Gar P226 Mag Problem

Thanks. I'll try polishing it. The gouge was causing a failure to feed, maybe once every 20 rounds or so (I was worried it was the ammo or the gun, but it only happened with that one mag.)

    Mec-Gar 1911 mags?

I'm one of the rare few who have had problems with a Mec-Gar mag. My P226 Mec-Gar mag developed a divot in the follower, which leads to FTF. I only fired maybe 100 rounds through it. My Sig Sauer factory mags have had no such problem.

    Mec-Gar P226 Mag Problem

I was having an occasional failure to feed with one of my mags -- it turned out to be my one Mec-Gar mag. The follower had a small but noticeable gouge where the casing meets the bullet -- probably enough to hang up a bullet. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Is it possible to buy just...
