I'm a big 1911 fan but I've always owned Full size gov't models. I'm wanting to start carrying a 1911 but I want something smaller than a Commander. Are the compact/officer models reliable. What are the better options out there? Para, Springfrield? Feedback is apprecaited. Thanks.

Are there any aftermarket grips for newer Taurus revolvers or are we left with the rubber gripper grips?

What's known about the 24/7 compacts so far? Any pictures? I find the idea interesting if they keep the sa/da and the rubber grips. I like the slim feel of the grip too. Hope they don't screw it all up. I have a PT111 Mil Pro and love it but I'd love to have a small, compact 24/7.

So I finally got a Gaucho and I really enjoy it. I understand it's a Colt Copy and that I can get colt style grips for it. I don't want any with colt Medalions of course, just seems wrong. Are they One piece or two? What's some good places online to get them? Hope you can help. Thanks.

I know this has surely been addressed but would the 500 Magnum be a totally insane choice as a Self Defense handgun? I'd like to hear some information on this. My father loves big hand guns and I was telling him about the 500 but unless an elephant attacks, surely he's got too much gun in hand.

I live in Wilmington NC. I am looking for a good place to shoot outdoors in the area. Withing 50 to 75 miles I'd say. I would prefer free, of course, but a modestly priced place would work. Messed around with an Auto Ordanance/Thompson 1911 today. I don't know a great deal about 1911s, I'm no expert, but it looked like rust on the front sight, around the hammer, and around the firing pin. That bugged me. Then when I cocked the hammer back, there was a lot of slide to frame rattle...

I'm thinking of making an S&WSc my CC weapon but I need some holster advice. I prefer to carry IWB and really prefer to be able to tuck my shirt. But I'm open to other ideas for IWB or SOB carry. Mostly what I'm looking for is a holster the supports the gun well. Even the Sc seems heavy to me...
