    Strange Colt reproduction

The 70's Colt cap and ball pistols were actually made by Uberti. I'll take my 70's model over the ones produced in the 90's any day.

Your preference for a combat rifle

The .243 mag is the .240 Weatherby........or that's what I always thought anyways. Is there something new? btw........240 Weatherby is an awesome round. I owned one for about 15 years.

    Cleaning w/ WD 40 ??

When I was a kid, we never bought solvents to clean guns with. All we used was WD-40. You do have to apply it more often, but it works just fine. It will give your guns a brown patina if you use it for 10 years or so. Just so happens I like a brown patina! Worst oil I ever...

    'Bush refugees' arrive in Canada

Hopefully, they'll take their friends along too! My appologies to all the Canadians.

    So I want to buy a "battle-rifle"

I'd recommend a SA-M7 from Arsenal. It's the cream of the crop in AK's.

Expedition Rifle, ...ok just humor me.

Drop me anywhere that all I have to do is survive (assuming there's no large bears) and I want a flintlock rifle.......preferably in 40 cal. That gives you about 68 balls to the pound, plus with bullet mold you can dig your bullets out of game or trees and recast them. I can get about 140...

    Remington Sendero

Remington triggers are pretty good, they just set them too high at the factory. Any gunsmith can make the adjustment for you in about 5 minutes. The guy I use charges 8 dollars to give you any pound pull you want. Mine's set for 2 and a half. That's as light as I'd like to go on a hunting rifle.

Gun safe... electronic or mechanical lock?

I bought one from Granite awhile back that has an electronic lock. They told me that in the event of a fire (the pads going to melt) or failure that they would send me a new keypad. Also said that the combo will be ok even if the battery is removed and left idle for years. It was weird...

Help me select 5.56 ammo for SHTF

I keep UMC 55 grainers. I buy 20 dollars worth (100 rounds) at a time from Walmart. Not very exciting huh? lol But when we are there and the wife asks if I need anything.......I always get another hundred rounds.

    Powder horn

I've made a dozen or so of them and it's not that hard. Takes a little time is all. I usually remove the rough outer part with a large knife and then work down with sandpaper until it's fairly smooth. If it gets "too smooth" to look natural I scrape a little more with a smaller knife and that...

What aare you getting to close out '04?

Bought a Winchester gun safe to make sure all my goodies are still here when I get home from work. ;)

    Squirrel hunting

I love to hunt them.....around here we call them "tree rats". My weapon of choice is a Remington pump action .410. Mostly I use #4's or #5's. With as small of a payload as is in a .410 you need mass to your pellets. Six's will work, I just have better luck with 5's. Most of the pellets...

    AK: Folder or fixed

I haven't seen a really nice looking folding stock for the AK except for the underfolders. With an underfolder it's impossible (at least for me) to get a proper cheekweld.

    Everyone should own an AK!!!

I've owned AK's for quite a few years now. I have an SA-M7 and an SA-93. Both Bulgarian. Probably the most reliable, rugged semi auto ever designed. I agree completely.

    You...can...only...have...one!

.40 caliber flintlock. Powerful enough to kill anything that walks in my area, super accurate, easy to care for, and as long as the worlds made of rock it'll shoot. Besides, sentimentally (is that a word?), I could never be without it. I've just relied on it too often.

What are you shooting in your muzzleloader?

Roundballs have always worked for me. I buy pillow ticking by the bolt, use real black powder and lube with a combo of olive oil and bees wax.
