Yah it is a fairly easy to notice problem. As to finding a different AK brand for 300-400 dollars, you wont. If you go cheap you risk having more problems, just how it goes. That being said I am very happy with my WASR-10 and its quite a lovely weapon.

I am surprised it is having that much trouble. As others have said its alot to do with technique, and the bolt can be really smooth if you get it nice and clean, the chamber that is. I can fire my M44 faster than my friend can fire his Mauser M27/48. Just watch out you don't rip your thumbs up...
