    I've owned a few of them. The C9 9mm in fact.. It was an ok gun for the money. It functioned well and was cheap to purchase.

    First Handgun if you cannot acquire a .22

    .22lr is the cheapest by far if you want to spend much time at the range and learn shooting but.. you could also get a little bored with it. I say try 9mm as its the cheapest next to .22lr but, still is a service caliber.

    First Handgun: Two Very Different Choices (9mm v 357)

    If you go with .357 be sure and check out the energy levels with different barrel lengths. In a snubby it won't be much more that a 9mm etc. IMO a backwoods .357 needs to have 6 inches of barrel length. .45 is a great round as well. Both will do you service.

    What's your recoil limit???

    Not too sure as of yet. The largest handgun caliber I've shot was the .44 magnum but that was out of a Desert Eagle, so I am sure the heft of the gun soaked up some of the recoil.
