I agree with the comments about S&W having MIM and the "wart" lock.
If S&W would get rid of these two things I could easily find myself owning 5 or so new S&W revolvers over the next 2 or 3 years.
Too bad this won't happen though.

I would suggest one of the following:
Sig 229 .40 S&W (No rail)
Ruger GP100 .357 (4" barrel)
S&W 686 .357 (4" barrel)
More 1911's (Can never have enough 1911's)
Winchester 94 30-30 (Classic)
Marlin lever action (Too many to list and available in big calibers)
Centerfire .308 Winchester...
How about using the $500 as a down payment and then pay off the remainder over the next few weeks?
I can't wait till I can buy my next handgun!! I'll be getting a Sig 229 .40S&W.

Do a search on this website and you will find many postings telling how to do this. Most suggest using "Scotch-Brite" products of one type or another and using it on the area of interest in the direction of the grain of the metal.
I own a stainless Springfield Loaded that I stupidly put an...
As a fellow New Yorker I too am looking forward to seeing how this lawsuit ends up.
Any person in their right mind would have to agree that Westchester and NY State is infringing on peoples rights by requiring them to provide "proof of need of protection".
I will watch this closely.

Call me chicken, but I would carry a nice lever-action .45-70 with stout loads if I were going to Maine for hiking in woods and mountains.
I'd have my Dan Wesson CBOB for protection from two-legged critters as well.

I have a Ruger SP101 .357 Magnum 2.25" barrel and I love it - not as much as I love my 1911's, but don't tell it that.
I have a Milt Sparks PMK holster for it and think it wears well and hold the gun high and tight. I wear mine around the house sometimes as a home protection gun, as it wears...
I didn't see any of the following:
Dan Wesson 1911
Springfield 1911
Ed Brown 1911
Wilson Combat 1911
Les Baer 1911
so I can understand why you don't feel like the perfect handgun has been found.
Perhaps you can try one of these and we can settle this issue once and for all - as a...
I have both the Sig Mosquito and a 22LR conversion kit for my Sig 228.
I wish I never bought the Mosquito - it is SO picky about ammo and jams (FTF or FTE) maybe 30% of the time.
The 22LR conversion kit runs well and has had only a 2 or 3 jams (FTF or FTE) in about 200 rounds shot.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
I pray that God pours his love and mercy on you, your family, and your sons wife and child in this time of sorrow.
