Midway won't ship BP Revolver to CA

I bought the same exact revolver from Midway in January - no problem sending it here to north San Diego county. Earlier this year (May) Turners was advertising in store that you could buy and take home a BP revolver the very same day. However, since then Walmart has suspended gun sales in CA...

    .45 Colt Pics!

    My humble contribution - a 3" S&W 625-7, Lew Horton variety.

    Good TEOTWAWKI Books?

May I suggest a couple of additional Heinlein books for your reading pleasure. :) Tunnel in the Sky - short term survival test goes bad The Moon is a Harsh Mistress The latter is not a TEOTWAWKI novel, but this tale of revolution in the pursuit of freedom has a lot of food for thought.

Does Everyone's Primary Gun Fit Perfectly?

Wish I could say so... but it's not true. My 1911 fits perfectly, but my primary is a Glock 30. The grip feels a bit fat to me, but it's the pistol I am most accurate with.

    New version of the 625

Definately ugly - but might work in the close confines of a airliner cockpit. Anyone know whether S&W might be thinking of marketing this to commercial pilots? Thought they were working on a "Pilot's Prototype" that was similar to this...

Colt Gov. 380 at local shop...

Sounds like a good price. I like my Government. Small, handy with a solid feel to it. Nice to have a backup with the same manual of arms as my 1911. Not too keen on the .380 round, and it could use better sights. One's enough for me. :)

    Colt .380 Government

Scott, McDougall & Associates would be my first choice - I have dealt with them in the past (bought parts), and they have a great rep. However, Doug McDougall is seriously ill, and Mac Scott is clearing up the work backlog. Have no idea if/when they might be taking on more work. Mac has been...

    What about a 3" 625-7 long colt?

I was lucky enough to pick one of these up here in Cali last November (private party transfer - not on the approved list). I was looking for a 625 in 45ACP, but for some reason this one wanted me to take it home. Very smooth trigger action. Very accurate with the loads I have been able to...

When does it become a "Collection"?

My collection (such as it is) is currently based on two central themes: (1) collecting an example of each basic action and selected calibers (for example, in rifles - bolt action, lever action, pump, semi-auto; 308, 227, 357, etc.) (2) getting today what I probably won't be able to buy in...

NRA Members: Do you have an NRA sticker on your car?

NRA member - but not the bumper sticker type. However, living here in the PRK, I do fantasize about about adding an NRA sticker to the bumper of the local obnoxious soccer mom-mobile with the "Re-elect Gray Davis" bumper sticker on it. "Lucy - you have some explaining to do..." :D...

What Do you Keep in Your Range Bag?

Items I've found to be very useful are ziplock bags. I use them to organize my stuff - a cleaning kit, a "marking kit" (Sharpie marker and colored self-adhesive dots), mag/speedloader kits for the handguns de jour, first aid kit, munchie kit, etc. I keep several empty ziplock bags for policing...

    .45 long Colt ammo

I just picked up a couple of boxes of 225gr WIN Silvertips HP (X45CSHP2). If if get a chance this week, I'll go to the range and "process" a box through my 625-7. Will let you know the results.

    Mini-14 mags

I believe Ruger is making the 5 round mags themselves. I haven't heard any new rumors about them making a 10 rounder, although I would buy a bunch if they would. I check the Mini-14 board at www.perfectunion.com periodically to see if there is any news - I will post to this board if I hear...

    Mini-14 mags

I've had good luck with the 10-round Promag ss. So far, there seems to be no functional difference between them and my Ruger 5 rounders.
