    interesting AR malfunction

I'm sure the experts have this under control but are you sure it's going fully into battery?

Gun Violence Restraining Order - what are you're thoughts?

It's worth noting that most of these folks aren't "crazy" in the sense that would allow an insanity defense. They plan these things weeks or months in advance in attempt to maximize the death and resulting media coverage.

    Changing public opinion via demonstrations

I'm sure Mainsail will correct me if I'm wrong but I think he's saying that if you are using a gun as a prop for its shock value in order to force people to pay attention then people will (correctly) perceive you as if you were shouting and waving a sign in their face and will associate gun...

    Changing public opinion via demonstrations

I don't think I ever claimed to be "everyone" however it's unlikely that I'm completely unique either. The basics of desensitization aren't exactly new and I think most people have had the experience of being afraid of something (or someone for that matter) but then losing your fear as you got...

    Changing public opinion via demonstrations

That's pretty much how it worked on me when I moved to an OC state. The first few people I saw carrying made me a little nervous but after a while I noticed that the sorts of people I saw carrying appeared to fall into the "good guy" category.

What is going on with .22LR ammo?

6k rnds in a year really isn't that much if you shoot regularly. I take short walks in the woods maybe 3 times per week and only shoot maybe 50 rnds each time but even that gets me to 6k in 10 months. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2

Fake "Gun Rights" Group Supports Gun Control - American Rifle & Pistol Assn

As a practical matter, here in America, you certainly do. In New Orleans they certainly did use gun shop records (the safest possible form of registry) to aid in the illegal confiscation of guns. California currently uses it's registry to confiscate guns from those it deems prohibited as well...

Fake "Gun Rights" Group Supports Gun Control - American Rifle & Pistol Assn

JSH1: Registries have been tried in many places both inside and outside the U.S. and have never been shown to reduce violent crime but they have historically been used as a tool of confiscation. Canada is ditching it's long gun registry due both to it's higher than predicted costs and the fact...

    cross-draw: allowed at your range?

My range is fine with it. Of course my range is whatever part of the forrest I happen to walk or drive to and the squirrels will keep quiet if they know what's good for em :) Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2

The Colorado Universal Background Check Law HB13-1229, Discriminates Against Gays.

No doubt that's how the "buy a shotgun" crowd feels about us. Don't you think we could use their votes? Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2

    Just watched the auction close.

If the manufacturers aren't raising their prices than that's part of the problem. There's nothing wrong with using the price system to send the available ammo to those places that need it the most (as evidenced by their willingness to pay for it). Maybe with higher prices the manufacturers...

The Colorado Universal Background Check Law HB13-1229, Discriminates Against Gays.

I would think that some racial minorities would have a case against UBCs based on disparate impact. I doubt they'd have to work very hard to show that they are denied by NICS at a higher rate than whites. Not to mention it's impossible for them to get the required photo ID (according to some)...

Gun owner database already being used for confiscation in CA

9mm: I'm talking more broadly about the principle that fundamental rights shouldn't be taken away permanently over an activity that so many feel the need to engage in, not just PC 240. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2

    The're scared.....

One theory I've seen is that seeing others who are prepared reminds them of danger and the fact that they themselves are not prepared. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2

Gun owner database already being used for confiscation in CA

I had pointed out that low level assault (minor fights etc) are fairly common and your response was that it didn't matter since few people are ever convicted of such things. That sounds like rare and selective enforcement to me. Never the less a pretty significant fraction of the population...

Gun owner database already being used for confiscation in CA

Serious penalties for minor crimes which are rarely or selectively enforced encourage corruption and discourage respect for the law. What I was trying to point out is that many of the people convicted of a crime that would get their 2a rights taken away live in places where they really do need...

Gun owner database already being used for confiscation in CA

I don't think the fact that most are not caught/convicted really strengthens the moral case for permanent removal of a fundamental right. If anything it just makes the law seem more arbitrary. I would also add that the sorts of people most likely to be involved in these crimes are also more...

Gun owner database already being used for confiscation in CA

So would you be comfortable with permanently taking away a fundamental right from even half that number? Personally I think that's something that can only be justified under the most dire of circumstances. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2

Gun owner database already being used for confiscation in CA

I would be pretty surprised if less than half the male population had NEVER technically commited assault. Most of these situations never involve the police but would you really be comfortable with permanently taking away a constitutional right from anything close to that fraction of the...

Gun owner database already being used for confiscation in CA

Certainly self control and wise choices hugely impact the likelihood of getting into trouble but circumstances and luck can play a roll as well. I heard recently that by age 40 nearly 80% of black males have been arrested at least once. Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
