I have my Taurus Mdl 85, 5 rds in my pocket holster. Very light and I hardly know I have it. I think the best gun to have is the one you have on you when you need it.
Thanks NightLord. I suspected the date to be around late 70's. I carried it as a Concealed Carry weapon for a while but like you, it jammed one day at a range I suspected failing springs in the mags..I bought new mags and it never jammed again but I decided to go to a Mdl 85 Ultra light 5...
I purchased the PPK/S .Model 9mm kurz/ .380 ACP in 12/1989 in 'used' condition. The serial # is S 004454. Does anyone have a research source that can date the manufacturing date of it? Thanks in advance if you can.
In the street I carry my 9 mm Shield with 8+1 and have a 7 rd mag on my other side. Around the house I'll carry my .38 cal Model 85 Ultra lite with 5 Rds. It's light and very easy to carry in my pocket holster, hardly know I have it on me.
I've always said, any shootin' iron is the best one to have, when you need one! I try to keep it simple. I usually carry my Shield 9 mm, with 8 rd mag & 1 in the tube for 9 rds. I also carry a mag pouch with the 7 rd mag in it as a 'security blanket'. On occasion, if the situation calls for...
I'd like to see Pres Elect push for Interstate carry permit. Would probably be difficult getting all of Congress to get together on it. Most democratic Congress members would try to build brick walls in the wording. But it would be nice.
I recently moved from Long Island ,NY to Loudon Cty, TN . I used a small POD to load some small furniture & lots of boxes of items that we did not need right away for the relocation move. I put my ammo cans , cleaning & reloading equipment all the way forward and filled the POD with the above...
If she has a hand problem due to health issues, it just makes sense to me that she would have problems with a semi-auto handgun with 'racking issues'. A revolver solves the racking issue. An J frame Ultra lite .38 hollow point round in a weapon that's rated +P, should be good for her.
Since I only have had just one 9mm so far, I'd say my 'favorite' 9mm is my S&W Shield.
Since I have to deal with a rabid anti-gunner Gov by the name of Cuomo , We NY's can only have 10 rd mags. So my Shield has an 8rd mag with 1 in the chamber for 9 rds. I really like shooting it. Fits very...
Comfort is the word for the day. If you're comfortable shooting in a certain position and you achieve your goal of what you're looking to accomplish with your handgun , then stick with it. Myself, I practice with self defense for my goal. I find the best stance in getting the best results is...
Tarosean~~Thank you for reminding me about that ruling. You're absolutely correct. He did overrule the 7 rd capacity. Now, we're back to 10 rd capacity limit in NYS, from what I understand. Lots of confusion about the so called' Safe Act' law. :-(
I'm comfortable with my 9MM Shield with JHP's. In NY our 'Progressive' gov has forced us law abiding folks to only a 7 rd capacity in a mag. I keep an x-tra in the tube for 8rds. I'd prefer 17-18 rds myself. That's another reason I'm moving to TN next year. Bought the house already!!!!
I used to carry 5 rds of 125 grain Remington Golden Saber +p load for Concealed Carry and felt comfortable.
I recently decided to go with a S&W Shield 9MM with 8 rd mag with jhp 115 gr rounds. Now I feel a lot more comfortable, but still use the .38 ultralite around the house...

My brother was given this S&W .M&P, .38 , six rounds, Serial # C65643 on the butt. Can you date this for me? It's in pretty fair condition. I guessed it to be around late 40's , early 50's. Thank you.
