    New VS old Marlins???

Thanks for all the info. This is the new one I was looking at http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/41011/Marlin+4570+22+WAL. Maybe I'll keep trying to find something local to look at before buying. Hey Jim.... I'll buy you the 30/30 and trade ya for your 1895 if...

    New VS old Marlins???

Have been thinking about getting a 45/70 and can't decide which route to go. I have a couple marlins in other calibers that were made in the 80's and 90's. Most of the 1895's that I see used are $100 or more than a new one could be had for. I know I read that there were quality issues when...

How to tell if carbine ammo is corrosive?

Thanks for the help. Guess I'll pass on the French stuff.... just got the carbine and don't want to have to drop it. :D The LC stuff I have is marked with a WCC lot number so it should be OK.

How to tell if carbine ammo is corrosive?

I have run into some 30 carbine ammo that is stamped VE 4-67 BD. Interested in picking some up, but want to make sure it isn't corrosive. Also, the same question regarding LC 52 carbine ammo. I thought it was fine... but want to make sure before I cause problems. Thanks for any help.

Taurus Raging Bull: Crap or Not?

I'm would imagine you have made the decision... I didn't read through every post. However, I thought I would share information as so many others have with me in my questions. I purchased a used blued 6" 454 Raging Bull a couple years ago. Funny enough I had watched the Youtube linked...

Henry Golden Boy, Marlin, or Winchester ???

22-rimfire- It was just like you said; once you make your decision you have to "pull the trigger." Funny you mention the Browning, I was thinking about a new one from Buds for $509. When I was looking at their recommended FFL's the last one was gone. I found the Marlin about a 45 min...

Henry Golden Boy, Marlin, or Winchester ???

I found a like new 39AS. They say it was made in 1997... sounds like the ones made in the last 5 or so years aren't made as well since Marlin was sold. The best I can tell is that for most of the 90's they added the S (39AS) and have gone back to just the A (39A). Any advice on the 39AS...

Henry Golden Boy, Marlin, or Winchester ???

Thanks for all of the ideas. I did decide against the Goldenboy. Just happened to start looking at the Browning... haven't ever seen one in real life. The pics on the net look good and the price is in line with the others from what I see.

Savage or Ruger. Sports Authority has the Axis with a scope for $299.99 in today's paper. I'd look at it and the new Ruger American.

Henry Golden Boy, Marlin, or Winchester ???

I have been wanting a lever action 22 for a while and had been looking around for a Marlin or Winchester. After looking at a couple of the Henrys locally I am really interested. They seem to have quite a reputation and are made in the US. Cabela's has the Golden Boy for $400... what do ya'll...

    45 Blackhawk

I was looking at a Ruger Blackhawk chambered in 45 Colt.... when looking for more information on Ruger's site, I see that the grip frame is made from aluminum. I have shot a 44 Superblackhawk with the steel frame. How long has the 45 been made from aluminum? Which would you prefer?

Wow, lots of choices I hadn't even considered. Thanks for all the input. What is different between the Mccormick shooting star and powermag?

    1911 Magazines

Since I just picked up a stainless Mil Spec Springfield 1911 I'm interested in getting some extra magazines. I'm looking for suggestions. I see that the factory mags are available at Bud's under $14 where they have the Mccormick match grade for $22 of Powermag for $23. What do you guys like...

    Bushnell Banner scope

I've never had a Banner. Grandpa did on his 30-06; I don't ever remember him missing a deer.... except once when a round didn't go off that dad had reloaded. Some kind of primer issue I think. His would have been made in the early/mid 80's.

    .22 w/scope @$200

I'll second the Marlin model 60. The one I got in the 80's that still shoots great. Another one to consider is the Marlin 795. The black stock isn't much to look at. The action looks very similar to the 60, only with a tube magazine. I'm going to try one out. They have a $25 rebate from...

    DPMS Panther Predator?

I wasn't able to find a Predator model on the DPMS site. After speaking to the dealer I found that it is a 20" heavy fluted barrel chambered in 556 with a Magpul pistol grip and stock.
