    148 gr dewc seating question

I don't have a Hornady manual so I just have to guess and say they probably are giving a COL for a different brand of DEWC. There are lots of them. The one you have can be loaded either way. You can load it almost flush so you're crimping over the bevel, sort of like a HBWC, or you can load...

    Switching primer mfg.

I use WSP for .38's most of the time, but sometimes I use CCI 500's. I just looked back over data from the past year or so. Most of the loads I did with WSP's ran 5 to 10 fps faster than the same bullets and powders with CCI 500's. A few weeks ago I intentionally mixed the two primers when I...

Left some brass in my truck bed after shooting, went thru the carwash, still good?

Well, this made me chuckle. Here's the old brass cleaning formula from a 1957 NRA article: 1 pt water 1 cup white vinegar 1 tbsp salt 1 tsp dish detergent Soak for ten minutes, rinse for ten minutes in water. I just use one of those small mesh laundry bags so I can swish them around...

    which powder burns faster/slower?

Here's a link to the Western Powders burn rate chart. It's the one that's always made the most sense to me. http://www.accuratepowder.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/burn_rates.pdf Note the qualification at the bottom about "approximate burn rate envelopes".

Factory Crimp, tell me how this looks!

The profile of the Montana Gold bullet must be different than the Speer. Looks to me like they should be seated to a little shorter COL. The crimp looks fine, but it should go into the cannelure. That's what it's for.

    Trail boss +.38 handload check.

I've settled on 4.0 gr of Trail Boss for a quick and easy load for 38spl or 357 with lead SWC's. I tried 3.5 but thought that was too soft and slow. With 357 brass and WSPM primers I get 737 fps av from a 6" barrel. With a SP primer it would be something a bit less, but I haven't shot any...

    Problems With Mastercast in Illinois??

I ordered some bullets from Mike on the 9th and they were here on the 18th. For some reason the delivery confirmation hasn't shown up on his computer yet, so he called me this morning to be sure they were delivered and not damaged. I've never had anyone do that before, ever. Made a loyal...
