So want to get me a muzzleloader and I found a Hawken kit in .50 cal for $315. I could try to build one or just buy one for $389. I kind of like the idea of building my own. My question is how much work is it to build one? Should I go .50 cal or .54? This will be strictly a range gun.
Ruger's names have gotten me all messed up. I'm on the fence about purchasing a new New Blackhawk in 45 Colt and intend on feeding it some published Ruger only loads.
My question is, how can I tell which ones can take them and which can't? I've looked one over at the local gun store and it...
I think I have a problem. A 1911 hammer should not fall if the trigger is squeezed and the barrel is pushed back making it out of battery, correct? My Springfield is falling to half cock when I do this.
I have Carnauba Red, Orange Magic, and a brand new Lyman 4500 with heating element. Which lube should I load it with first? I'm going to buy more Red later but I want to use these two sticks to get it filled up and start sizing. Does it matter if I have two lubes of different hardness in the...
I have a Hornady Sonic 2L cleaner and I am using their solution with their recommended settings. I'm cleaning without heat and for one 30 minute cycle. Only a few pieces end up looking all rainbow colored but what the heck is causing it and are they still safe to shoot?
I have a brand new Lyman 4500 with heater but I see RCBS and Lyman sizer dies look way different. Which do y'all like better and why? Im doing pistol bullets only, ranging from 255 gr 45 Colt to 102 gr .380. Using either Carnuba Red or BAC lube.
How do you go about lubing but not sizing an as cast bullet that's just right with an RCBS Lube-a-Matic 2? I have a Lee mould that throws a .453 bullet for my 45 colt that is perfect size for my revolver but needs to be lubed only. I have tumble lubed for it In the past but I want to use the...
Ok, I would like to use HP38/Win 231 for my .380 but I can't go low enough with my Lee Pro Auto disks. My smallest hole is 3.2gr and it's just a bit warm for the Lee 102 LRN bullet because I have to seat it a bit deeper for my P238. I've tried the Lee Perfect Powder Measure and at lower...
The reason I ask is to find out if the magazine springs wear out quicker or if they may be less reliable to feed the first round from the mag if I'm carrying with it topped off. I've searched just about everywhere to find a good answer but I can't seem to find one.
Has anyone used one? Im looking to appendix carry my P238 and am looking for a good holster. Desantis also makes a few that are quite a bit cheaper but I don't know which would be more comfortable.
I have Unique and HP-38 and the bullet will be a 125 gr hollowpoint. The problem is position sensativity. I'm looking for something that isn't so position sensative. I tried 6.1 grains of Unique with a 110 gr HP bullet and it had almost a 300 fps difference between pointing the gun down and...
OK I have a new Sig P238 that I'll be carrying and have narrowed my carry ammo I want to try for it to Speer Gold or Hornady FTX. Mainly I'm trying to decide which one for my P238. Provided they both feed well, which would you pick?
I'm using HP-38/Win 231 and the Lee 105 SWC cast bullets sized to .358 for my Sig P238. I'm about to test some of these at 2.6 and 2.8 grains of powder. The bullets have to seat pretty far down to pass the plunk test. I know I could size them down smaller but I wanted to see if these would...
I've been pondering using the Hornady Sonic Cleaner 2L for my cap & ball cylinders. Mainly just take off the nipples and put them in there together but with the nipples removed. Has anyone tried this? I'll probably stick with cleaning the frame by hand, but what about the barrel too?
I'm going to be getting my concealed carry license this Christmas and was wondering how everyone is carrying their J-frame. I have a 642 and was thinking of getting a Nemesis holster for pocket carry but thought I'd ask this question first to see what seemed to be popular.
I'm wanting to make some reduced recoil 30-06 loads using Hornady 125 grain SST and H4895. I'm shooting for 2700-2850 fps. Anybody have any experience with this combo? I've looked at the Hodgdon site and the reduced load starts way slower but the load data center starts at my peak speed.
After installing a new trigger I noticed that my Springfield GI's plunger tube is loose on the back side by the safety. It's not bad, but I imagine it'll only get worse. Is it safe to shoot it a bit until I can take it to the local gun smith or should I fight the urge to try the new trigger...
Anyone who owns one or has personal experience with this revolver willing to share their experience? I'm in the market for a cheap 22 revolver and it looked pretty good at the gun shop. Please, only people with actually have some experience with this particular revolver.
