Chicago Police Chief: 2nd Amendment Is A Danger To Public Safety

Using his rational, only "white" male property owners can vote, and modern electronic communication is not included under the First Amendment. Reckon how that would fly..........:uhoh:

Changed my mind on universal background checks

Understand this: at its core, the "gun control" debate isn't really about guns. It's about 2 completely different mentalities; one is about independence, self-reliance, and personal responsibility; the other is one of subserviance and dependance. A large portion, perhaps even the...

    Frustrating Hog Hunting Experiences

http://www.sportsmanscondo.com/hogslammerweb/index.html Use one of these, and build your trap pen any size you need, small to huge. I generally use seven 16' stock panels, with T-posts every 5ft or so, for a round pen. Have caught quite a few hogs using it. Most ever at one time was seven...

Legal Ramifications: Shooting to defend property -- specifically, a gun

That is not entirely correct. It depends on each situation. Example #1: Under your car-port, you surprise a burglar breaking into your car, stealing your CDs, laptop, etc. If he clearly has no deadly weapon and you kill him, you will likely be charged with manslaughter. Example #2...

Legal Ramifications: Shooting to defend property -- specifically, a gun

The officers in the Rodney King case were prosecuted under federal statute for violation of civil rights. This was because President Bush ordered the DOJ to investigate the possibility of charging the officers involved in King's beating, since the state court had acquitted Koon, Wind, and...

    Fishing For Coyotes

I did a fair amount of fur trapping in HS, and for a year or 2 during college, before the fur price collapse. This was late '70s/early 80's. Raccoons and fox, mainly, using leg traps. Of course steel traps hurt. I've caught my fingers in them. Didn't stop me from using them, though. I've...

    Fishing For Coyotes

Never seen it done with coyotes, but using a 12/0 hook with a chicken neck on it suspended about 12"-24" above the water is how gators are caught. The higher you suspend the bait above the water, the larger a gator has to be to grab it. I also know a couple of guys who "trotlined" for ducks...

    .357 mag carbine (any brand)

My $.02 worth: 1. A .357 carbine is a good deer gun within it's range, which is 100-125 yds, with 150 yds the outer limit. 2. Federal Eagle .357 158 gr JSPs work pretty good. My youngest daughter killed her first deer with the load, and it performed well. They also work good on small to...

EDC Flashlights: What do you carry?

If by EDC light you mean something that easily fits in a front pocket, then what I carry is this: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/black-cat-hm-01-ha-ii-osram-100-lumen-led-flashlight-black-1-aaa-24127] Be advised that it will absolutely EAT batteries. You only get about 30-40 min of full power...

Latest Washington, DC "Assault Rifle" Story

Well, that's an improvement on the usual "semi-automatic assault rifle" term they normally use, which is an oxymoron.

    H.R. 822 Carry Reciprocity Bill

My $.02 worth: I think Harry Reid is going to do a head count, realize that it will fail, and bring it to the floor for a vote. It will fail, by 3-6 votes, mostly along party lines.

    Incident at School...

Mostly in the liberal arts departments. Engineering and science professors are more "down to earth". "How you FEEL" about something isn't really important when you are trying to figure the size of a concrete archway that will be holding up a road bridge. Either it's strong enough, or it isn't.

Tell us about your big game deer, hogs and black bear size game rifles/carbines?

My hog gun is a Marlin 336 that has been rebored/chambered to .375 Win/38-55. Has a 1.25-4 x 30mm scope, with illuminated reticle. My deer rifle is usually a CZ 550 in 6.5x55 Swede, with a 2-7 scope.

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

der Teufel, I have a Fenix TK15(337 lumens claimed) with either a red or green lense cover mounted on my Marlin .375 Winchester. I find the red light sufficent to about 75 yds, and the green light to about 125-150 yds. Battery Junction sells the Fenix TK15 for $80. You can buy a light...

    show off your hog guns!!!!!!!!!

I use a 10/22 when they're in the trap, and whatever centerfire rifle I brought when actually planning on hunting them, usually either a Remington M600 Mohawk in .308, or a Marlin 336 rebored to 375 Winchester. My .308 loads are factory 180 gr SP, my 375 Win loads are Beartooth 250gr LBT-GC...
