Tony I can't help with whether it's smokeless or black, but black powder should be safe in any gun that is in shootable condition.
I loaded some .44 Mags with black one time just to see, & it worked well.
Good shooting.
Someone else who makes a fine heavy duty belt is Simply Rugged. I have their holster but not their belt.

Give them a look. I particularly like the Cuda holster.
I know about him, I've read his writings since the late 50s & his liking of the .44 Special. He quit the .45 in favor of the .44 Special because he could load it heavier in the guns of his day. I've shot his loads & especially his old 2400 load is very heavy.
I have a money belt/gun belt from Old West Reproductions that is both pretty & very useful. I like it a lot, Rich does a fantastic job.

Both Mike Venturino & John Taffin have written Colt warranted the SAA for smokeless powder at serial # 192,000. I have read that was in 1900.
The .44 Special was actually produced with black powder very early in it's production. That didn't last long but I've read it was brought out in black...
The first .41 I shot was years ago a friends Ruger Black Hawk. If I remember it was a 6-1/2" bbl & back then all Rugers were three screw. He was loading with 4227 but I don't remember the load or bullet. We shot some very good groups at 50 yds & I was very impressed with the cartridge. I've...
The round bbl would be the one I'd want. A rifle in .41 mag or any pistol ctg would have to be relativily light & easy to pack to get my attention. It'd be a packing rifle one to take on walks/hikes in the hills. Reaonably powerful, fun to shoot, & accurate. The .41 would qualify in all catigorys.;)
The .41 Mag. is a pretty easy to shoot handgun for me. I saw a Henry .41 Mag. at our gun shop. It looks awfully nice, & if I wanted a .41 rifle the Henry would be the one!
Bear Spray? In fear of my life or great bodily harm!

Bush Pilot that would probably be the truth.
Sometimes if it weren't for bad luck I wouln't have any luck.
SSS is pretty popular here too. This year I bought a tag, I've had several people tell me they've seen wolves.
We get problem bears from YNP too wish FWP would stop that. If they are a problem in one place what makes people think they won't be in a different place???? Sheesh some people's...
Wow I'm not a big fan of wolves, I don't trust them either & they do raid the ranchers livestock. I could do without them, we do get to hunt them though.
I don't trust wild carnivoirs either & we have Grizzlys to think about while you are Elk hunting.
Being at the end of the road could...
Skeet the older I get the more conservative I become in loading. I feel if I need more power, get a bigger gun rather than load the one to the red line. The .41 is about the right level loaded full power it's easier to shoot than the .44 ( don't get me wrong I love the .44) but the .41 will do...
The .41 is a great cartridge & the 58 is a great vehicle for it, easy packing, accurate, & in every sense a magnum!;)
However let's not forget Ruger makes a very nice .41 too both SA & DA!
I hear good things about the Taurus too.
You know if you are not using it for defense removing the lock isn't a bad way to go. I'd rather have an older one, but if it's out I'd have a new one.
If you keep your eyes open & have the cash available you will run onto an older one.
