I work at an academy, and they get a decent supply of ammo in. Depending on the week there always seems to be an ample supply of something. Last week(they took 7.62x39 and .308 off the limit list btw) I bought 200 rounds and there was still about 20 boxes left. Earlier this week they got in a...
slop is completely normal. Take the upper handguard off and reassemble the AK and youll quickly find that without that tube the piston will never reset on its own.
o and loose tolerances like that is why an ak is so functionally durable
furniture+trigger group
furniture+magazine
Magazine+trigger group.
All of those combinations will put Saigas within the legal parts count. Furniture and trigger group is the best imo as your not limited to us magazines
Oh and bullet guides and screws do not count
as far as I know century maadis(minus the ones built off mak 90 parts kits or MISRs) were imported and not built by them.
My buddy bought one in the height of the panic for $650(yea how he found that at a gun show of all places is beyond me) and a few parts like bolt carrier seem really crude...
in the end saigas were themselves a work around to our laws. Saigas could certainly be $300 again but for whatever reason they are not being shipped in large enough quantities. However it does show that a brand new AK would be pretty darn cheap if legally imported, let alone the old ones that...
if fully functioning rifles were able to be imported theyd still be very cheap. but their are so many legal hurdles to jump over that buy the time they're chopped, shipped, rebuilt and so on the price gets up there
all milled maks are angle cuts and have a weird circle opening rather than the more rectangular one of normal milled aks. This meens you limited to ironwood designs for any sort of traditional stock
I think the bonesteel folders might be your best bet. Where as the others are adapted for no modifications the bonesteel was designed to drop in.
Plus it looks cool as hell
a nib nhm90 should easily bring over $1000, if you do decide to turn it into a shooter it will loose a certain amount of monetary value. The good news is, if you decide to shoot it than you bought it for a really great price.
True however I think its reasonable to say that country of origin played a major role in the adoption of at least the m14 and m4, the respective primary service arms of their time.
I could be wrong but I do think it has played and will play a role in our primary arms
The krag served a very short lifespan, the springfield was based on the Mauser and I believe we had to pay a large sum of royalties(or something like that).
The reason the fal/m14 argument is different is because the newly formed NATO was looking for a standard rifle in which almost every...
I suppose that's why the US serviced the M14 instead of the FAL back in the day before the M4. There are many reasons the AK isn't our service rifle, but those are irrelevant as no Russian, or any other country of origin for that matter, would ever be a US service rifle.
not true but I agree.
if its already been shot and doesn't have the box than any collectibilty is long gone. For $700 though you will easily see a profit should you choose to sell. As for the 922r thing, switching out the furniture and a couple trigger components will be good enough.
EDIT...
ar-18, would be the best replacement imo, and probably should've gotten the nod over the ar 15 in the first place. Had it been the rifle that was put into service you would've seen the same amount of ergonomic and handling improvements to the system as you have with the Ar-15 and Ak families...
