    Why Own A 1911?

Heh! I paid $75 for my GI M1911A1 back in 1971. They're good investments and mine didn't require a butt-load of enhancements.

    Why Own A 1911?

Why own a M1911A1? There's no reason not to own one. To be the "pistol-parent" of a M1911A1 is to be blessed by God. You own a M1911A1 for the same reason you should own a Katana. Because if you never owned one, you would never have the pure pleasure of handling one and knowing it...

What is the first gun you ever puchase or received

Mine was/is a M1911A1 bought 41 years ago. I will never sell the beloved M1911A1.

Do you own an AR-pattern rifle?

    I have two in .223, plus an HK91 (.308).

    Why Glock over an XDM?

I own a Glock 19, a beloved M1911A1, an HK 45C, and just recently purchased a Springfied XD 45ACP. I'd recommend the XD because of the grip safety. It also shoots great and funstions perfectly.

    Which mauser to buy

I've got a pre-WWII (1937) Kar98. Its a Russia-capture but a former student cleaned it up to near presentation grade.

What's the oldest gun you own ?

My oldest is a Mauser 1895 that I purchased to use as a prop for a World History class I was teaching. Never shot, cleaned it up and refinished the stock. Added an appropriate bayonet and sling, makes a nice wall-hanger.

Best move for a gunny: WA, OR or CO? Why?

None of the above. Check out Texas. No state income tax, good economic conditions, gun-friendly political situation. Hot in the summer, but good Tex-Mex food and good beer.

    Glock dislikes

Owned a Glock 19 since 1996. Completely trouble free. Nice shooter. Don't know about this hate for the grip angle -- seems like fly$hit in the pepper to me. I've shot the beloved M1911A1, Beretta Mk9, Ruger P89DC, HK 45C, XD 45ACP, Ruger MkII, Browning Hi-Power, and the Walther PPK...

Why dress this way at the range?

Many, many years ago when I was on my state's Composite National Guard M14 team, I would practice wearing the same uniform I'd wear during competition shoots. I practiced off-hand/standing, kneeling, and prone positions complete with magazine changes. I hope I didn't come off as a mall...

I have seen the light! Glock 19

I've owned a Glock19 since 1996. Very dependable, fun to shoot. Good concealed carry weapon. Enjoy.

    I did it again

That's how I bought my XD 45ACP. I'm so weak.

    Springfield XD

Just purchased an XD 45ACP this week. Does absolutely I want a .45ACP pistol to do. Hate the crappy plastic holster and mag carrier. My HK45C a rest. You'll enjoy the XD.

HK USP 45 vs. Glock 21

I own a Gock 19, a M1911A1, and an HK 45C. The 1911A1 is the best shooting of the three. For a SHTF pistol, I'd leave the Glock at home and take the HK 45C and 1911A1. I'd recommend the HK without hesitation.

What to expect getting a ccw in Texas

Pretty much no fuss, no muss. Pay attention during the classroom phase. One way or another, everything on the written exam will be covered. The shooting is the easiest part. If you can't qualify during the shooting phase, you shouldn't carry anyway (you're a danger to youself and all those...

Would you stay in a state that stopped allowing you to carry

I would move. Fortunately, I live in Texas and have no desire to move to a non-carry state.

Warning: Do not use Tula .308!!! This is why!!!

Hmmm. I've got a few hundred rounds of .308 Tula for my HK91. Haven't tried any of it yet. I will certainly wear eye protection and a long sleeved shirt when I try some. Glad you're okay. Shame about the Enfield.

Soon to be gun owner-What do you carry?

Depending on my mood, I carry either a Glock 19 or an H&K Compact .45 USP. Whatever you get don't buy a cheap holster (I prefer Galco) and get at least 2 additional magazines. Always carry an additional magazine in the appropriate carrier when you carry your pistol. Best to you!
