K9 is a fine choice. You pretty much summed it up well. The only other negative I can think of is it can be heavy for some as a carry piece. If you look around there are great deals on used NYPD trade ins.

.380 ACP is not a fun range shooter. It is actually quite snappier than 9mm. My suggestion is to look at the M&P Shield. I would recommend you find a range that you can rent the gun and try it before you buy. Good luck and let us know how you make out!
I had an LC9 but I sold it for a Shield. The Shield is everything the LC9 should have been. Much better trigger and no goofy LCI or mag release safety.
My first range visit with my M&P22 was filled with numerous FTF and FTE using American Eagle 40 grain bulk ammo :mad:
I received advice on the S&W forums to run 500 rounds of CCI mini mags through it first so hopefully they will be flawless followed by other cheaper ammo.
