shipping to Ruger - my experience at fedex today

I shipped a handgun back to the manufacturer a few months ago. I had to call about 10 FedEx locations in order to find one that shipped guns. Most of the locations made sure to say that they were not anti gun but didn't want to deal with the hassle of shipping firearms. The one place that...

    .22lr oil/water resistance test

Interesting test. Up until recently .22lr was so cheap and plentiful that I never really worried about it. That's no longer the case. Centerfire ammo however has always been a bit more costly. I had an interesting experience several years ago. My downstairs flooded during a hurricane and my...

What do you look for in a Gun Shop?

Right now I'm looking for ammo and maybe firearms. Normally I look for good customer service and professionalism. I realize that it's boring telling the same thing to 20 customers per day but it's the job that the salespeople picked.

Union workers - Guns & Voting

I've been a union member (3 different unions) for about 20 years. In my experience, most members vote party, or beliefs over what the union says. For example, the Conservatives vote Republican and the FSA vote for the Dems no matter what. No discussion is ever given about what the union wants...

Any Springfield XD owners and grip safety

I have the 4.5" & 5.25" versions in 9mm. The 4.5" has at least 2,000 rnds through it and I broke 1,000 rnds in the 5.25" version around Christmas. I've never had any issues with either gun. Several new shooters have learned to shoot with my XDMs and no one has had a problem with the grip...

    Revolvers languishing in LGS

Single action revolvers are still on the shelves in my area but there's not a lot of double action revolvers left. Of course ALL of the Glocks, XD's, XDMs, etc are gone. Some M1911's are left though.

If we don't punish the anti-gunners in the next elections we are in big trouble

You believe that Obama is good for this country? Seriously? On one hand you have the Republicans and their "Corporate" interests. On the other hand you have the other side with their Socialism, failed policies and restrictions on Constitutional rights.

If we don't punish the anti-gunners in the next elections we are in big trouble

I know that there are some Democrats here that love their guns but... This is what I am seeing. I know a lot of gun owning Democrats but I cannot get even one of them to even fill out the form on Ruger's website in order to contact their politicians. None of them are willing to contact a...

When will ammo prices come down?

This is my guess. If we have another horrible high profile massacre like Sandy Hook then prices aren't coming down for several months afterwards. Another mass shooting will feed the media's appetite for anti gun stories and give more ammunition to the anti gunners. Fear is stoked and panic...

Bust luck for a couple boxes of 9mm

I know a lot of gun owners and we've started a phone tree when we find ammo. Everyone gets a text when you run across it and someone will usually buy a box or two for others if there's not a limit in place. I've decided that I'm only doing this with those that vote the right way or at least join...

    Inappropriate comment from Walmart employee

I bought 6 boxes of 9mm one night last year. The counter goober at Walmart commented that this must be a wealthy Republican sport. I told him that I'm twice his age, have worked my entire life and my money is mine to spend on what I want. I also informed him that I couldn't afford to shoot that...

    Colorado Legislators Grill Raped Student.

That's probably accurate but it doesn't state that the women were murdered with their own gun. Criminals look for easy prey and unfortunately that's usually a woman, an old person or the infirm. The fact that women rank high on the victim list doesn't mean that self defense is worthless. It...

    Aren't gun owners people too?

We are not one of the "Approved" minority groups. I doubt that we're even a minority in the free states.

    Heritage .22lr/Mag

I owned one for several years and it was a good gun. It was accurate and reliable with .22lr. It wasn't unusual to have a misfire with .22 magnum rounds. I'd buy one again if I wanted a decent budget single action in .22lr.

    GANDER MOUNTAIN__Ridiculous. Experience.

The local Gander Mtn closed down last year. It's kind of a shame since they had pretty good customer service. That's probably because there were more employees than customers in the story on most days. Their prices were too high and they had too much competition in the area. It's that simple...

    A call from my Congressman!

I've sent 5 letters to my politicians using Ruger's link and those provided by others. Usually I get a vague form letter back that states how the politician is pro gun but... blah, blah, blah, working towards blah, blah, blah. I got a weird letter back from Mark Warner saying that if I have a...

    Ammo shortage easing or not?

Let's see if I can remember what I saw yesterday. .40S&W ammo was $22 per box (Winchester) .45acp was about $25 per box. .22lr was $10.50 per 50 rnd box (Federal) at a Dick's Sporting Goods last week. 7.62x39mm Tulammo was $11 per box. Can't remember what the .380 was priced at. There were...
