I don't shoot 357 that much either, probably like one box a year or less like others said. But after I shot that one box I reloaded it. If nothing else buy one of the lee loaders.
Some may laugh at my overkill, but I bought a gopro for range sessions. I put it on top of a pole stuck in the ground so its about shoulder height and off to the side where I can see myself on one side and my targets on the other. I watch myself to see if I do any bad habits like jerking...
Newer trucks the window is angled more so the over the sun visor is right at your forehead. Most newer trucks are extended or quad cab where the back window is further back, but they have fold up rear seats that you can place a lot under.
Because making decisions based off an incorrect belief such as 'its dangerous to store powder in a house' can often result in a more dangerous situation such as locking powder in a container which then creates a bomb.
This implies that storing powder in a house in another method is unsafe. But then adding a sturdy latch turns your refrigerator into an unsafe storage container (same as with a safe that is latched/locked)
Remember powder burns really fast, it doesn't explode, its need containment to build up...
So my assumption is correct then, your looking for medium size game hunting rounds for your woods round? I did a quick search and found some pictures and your looked to me like smoother eastern mountains that western.
I've tested 296, LilGun and Accurate No.9. I had originally dismissed 2400...
So your definition of a woods load is what, hunting small game, medium game, big game? Or just plinking? Highest velocity if I read the rest of the first post correctly but wanted to clarify.
So if your looking for a high velocity then I'm guessing your looking for medium game rather than small...
others said already but if you want to keep cost down and old desk or cabinets that are solid wood, not termite barf. I hate to drill holes in an old desk so some old kitchen cabinets are usually the best bet. Some countertops are plenty sturdy, if needed you can bolt through and use fender...
Isn't 1000fps the general accepted max fps for lead before it does start leading?
If thats still the number then the starting load in that lee manual is (a little) too fast, they are listing 1043fps. You have to go down several rows to below universal to get under 1000 starting. Accurate...
Ahh yeah, I found a Lyman/Ideal #38 that says they are 156g. This page was the first I had found when I searched for 357446 and it said 162 http://three-peaks.net/Lyman_and_Ideal_Bullet_Molds.pdf
I posted my results of a 158g XTP Accurate #9 before
I have not cast any yet, this will be my first. I bought some local casted 158g lead at a local store before to test out some loads. I'll need to buy lead, etc, but had planned to eventually anyway so when I saw those handles sticking out I grabbed it. I'll hunt for some older lyman manuals.
Was at an "antique store" and picked up a Lyman 357446 mold and handles. Its a 162grain bullet and I'm not finding a lot of load data for it. I'm wondering then is this an obsolete bullet, should I bother with it? Or should I say 162 is close enough to 158, make a starting load and test it.
I have 100 other things to 3dprint already :) But the layout of those where they flip open like a wallet instead of the two piece ammo box style is nice, if I were to 3dprint some I'd go with that style.
