    S&W 351 PD trigger pull.

I love my 351PD, it is one of my favorite handguns. It has enough pop to know you are firing a real gun, but much easier, and cheaper, to shoot than a centerfire. the spring is stout, but mine has a pretty smooth, short, trigger that is easy to control. It is great training for the larger...

    Kimber or SW 1911? Can't decide...HELP!

I have two S&W 1911's, and have had no trouble out of either one of them. Nicely finished, no sharp edges, 100% reliable so far. Some will decry the "Swartz safety," and MIM parts, but I have had no trouble with either. I haven't had to use it, but S&W has a good reputation for customer...

    1911/safety/IWB

I have knocked my ambi-safety off on a Springfield EMP before; for this reason any 1911 I would carry will have only a right side safety, and a holster with a sweatguard covering the paddle.

    first time handgun buyer

I have short fingers, and here is a partial list of handguns that I can comfortably control: Ruger sp101 S&W J-frame revolver Browning Hi-Power 1911, (With thin grips and a short trigger) Walther PPS Springfield EMP Glock G19 Glock G30sf As mentioned above, I would recommend a small revolver as...

    .357 ammo recommendation

I would start with a proven self defense round and go from there. Two-legged predators are a much bigger threat than the four legged kind. Don't know about Mountain Lions, as we don't have them in my neck of the woods, but I doubt there is much difference between a 125 grain and a 158 grain...

.380: Which would be a nice carry gun?

The Bersa is often suggested as a best-buy .380.

Help me pick a new woods sidearm...

What about a 3-inch Ruger sp101? Much lighter, trimmer on the belt, yet still capable of full-power .357 ammo, and pleasant with the .38.

    Walther PPS

I have the 9mm and love it. Haven't shot the PPS in .40 but generally don't care for the snappy recoil of the .40 in general. I prefer the short, 6-round, magazine that fits flush with the bottom of the grip; about the same profile as a j-frame Smith. Like Ian's Dad said, it is also one of my...

    Trail/Camping gun decisions

I hike and backpack a lot, and 9 times out of 10 have my S&W 351pd in .22mag, with a couple of speed strips of extra ammo. My reasoning is this: 1, light weight. 2, loud enough for signalling if I break a leg and can't walk out. 3, Better than a pointy stick.

    Hello PPS

I have a PPS, and can't imagine it would be a good fit in a G27 holster, as the slide is much thinner.

    .38 Special v. .22WMR

Some interesting information about .22 mag:http://www.brassfetcher.com/index_files/Page1504.htm I have a S&W 351pd which when loaded weighs way less than a pound. It is also a lot of fun to shoot. By the way, how does the .22 mag "Shed," Velocity? Physics is physics.

    walther pps

I've only had mine a few weeks, and only have a couple of hundred rounds through it, but so far so good. No reliability problems. I haven't heard of many either. There does seem to be a problem with dented brass on some, but not a problem unless you reload. I believe that is more with the...

    Attn: CZ gunsmiths

What was your goal in putting in the lighter spring, a better trigger pull? You may be better off using the stock parts and having a local 'smith do a trigger job. Should be $75-$100, depending on the reputation.

    Glock Maintenance

I've heard, but have no personal experience, that if you were to ever need a new recoil spring Glock will send one free if you call them.

    Best place to buy ammo?

+1 for Polekitty. The last time I was lucky enough to find ammo in Walmart I bought a couple of boxes of WWB Value Packs for 9 and .45, and the guy behind me bought all the rest of the store's 9mm. If everyone would buy just what they needed, there would be no ammo shortage.

    Decent .22lr handgun

If you do a search you will find the Ruger and the Browning seem to be the most often recommended .22 autoloaders. There are some nice revolvers out there, too, such as a Ruger Single Six.

    Choice for comfortable concealed carry

Lots of good guns here. I know a lot of foiks pocket carry all the time, but for me I've never been able to really pull it off. Even tiny guns are fairly big, at least compared to a ring of keys box of tictacs, etc. For me holster carry works much better. If you can pull it off, great. I...
