Are there differences between these other than slide color? These are
Ruger SR 1911 Talo Night Watchman 6708 45 Auto 4"
Ruger SR 1911 Lightweight Commander 6711 45 Auto 4.25"
If not, can I get a black slide for my #6711?
Thanks! Steve T
I have a 45 conversion cylinder in my Ruger Old Army, and it's a great combo. Makes a lot of sense.
What about converting a cartridge gun to cap n ball........... would open up a whole new world of fun..... hmmmm.......... anyone have thoughts? Steve T
I have two ROAs, and a 357 bisley new model Blackhawk. Can I switch the Bisley grip frame, hammer etc over to one of the ROAs without much trouble? Anyone here who's done this have any advice?
Or, another option is buying grip frame, hammer, screws from Brownells or Midway. Any advice here...
Have you posted pics here of your original factory 5 1/2 inch blued model with original adjustable sights ? I'm intrigued by this rare rare rare version.
I've read that they were made, and are rare. Anyone here have one, or seen one? Any pics?
I'm considering sending a pair of 7 1/2" ROAs, one black, one stainless, to Dave Clemens for his 7 1/2" > 5 1/2" conversion. Just curious about the model if it did exist.

45 Dragoon,
Again, thanks for your knowledgeable replies. I will of course check to see what Kirst has to say, and add that to the mix of info thoughts and ideas I get from the forum. I posted here because there are a bunch of great fellow cap and ball and ROA nuts here.

Thanks for all the great replies, and for the concern. Believe me, I am super careful, and I appreciate the serious nature of reloading. I've been at it for 14 years now, and although I've read everything I could get my hands on, I'm always learning.
Turns out the ROA (Ruger Old Army) is by far...
I'm about ready to start loading 45 Colt for the Konverter I'll soon be getting for my ROAs. Does the Kirst cylinder take full length 45 Colt cartidges? I'll be starting with 255 SWC from Reloads n more in Stoneham MA over Unique.

Check out the Clements Custom Guns website; Dave Clements makes a 50 cal conversion on your ROA. I might consider carrying one of those if there were bears looking for me.
