Here in Minnesota when the temps drop well below freezing many of us switch to 7 1/2's. I think a frozen target is a bit harder to knock a chip off than a warm one.

Why do you think the barrel is rifled?

I would bet it is loaded in Turkey. In the EU shot sizes of a similar name to US are smaller. The EU has different shot size standards.

A factory Remington synthetic but stock is lighter and will fit. I recommend purchasing one from EBay. They always seem to be listed for sale.

Get all the cosmoline off it and then shoot it. Target shotgun shells cost less than most pistol ammo. Have fun...make it go bang.

Get the smooth bore 870 with bead sight. The rifled barrel would limit you in many ways.

Very little chance of new barrels. If it was made in the last 60 years it should be fine to use with modern "game" load type shells. If in doubt have a gunsmith check it over for you. Ride that pony.......
