Is there any reason to go to max loads?

I have been reloading for about 6 years. I load for about 30 different guns. I have not yet reached book maximum on any guns. My 220 swift load testing found 2 winner nodes. 1 low. And 1 high. My 6.5-284 also had 3 nodes 2 low and 1 high. The only gun I pushed close to maximum was my 357. Best...

    Rust issues

Hey guys check out this one. I do not have a plug or light in this small closet. So i found a battery operated dehumidifier for closets. I also found a cool hygrometer that syncs to your iphone with data and alerts? Thoughts...

    Rust issues

Thanks for the information. I will begin the next attack on this problem and get a hygrometer and an active dehumidfier. The challenge i have as a reloader and precision rifle guy is that i have 20-30 long guns and just with normal rotation and hunting seasons some long guns get cleaned and put...

    Rust issues

I live in South Carolina. Humidity is high here April-October. I have recharged the silica a few times. But they turn from Orange to blue within a week or two everytime. I am thinking of buying a dehumidifier made for safes and hooking it up in the closet. Just looking for any other tricks...

    Rust issues

I built a nice 20 long gun rack and created a gun safe in a closet in an upstairs bonus room. I anticipated some moisture issues so I keep two big cans of silica and a rust attractant mat. I noticed the other day a few specks of rust on a couple of barrels so I cleaned and oiled them all and put...

    Primers didn't seat flush

Thanks guys for all the input. it is a good life lesson. I got lazy and obviously didnt take the time to double check the primers. I cheated and normally let my reloading trays do that for me. They sit flat in the tray and they are good. Well going back and i see that this particular case is...

    Primers didn't seat flush

Thansk dmurdach for that idea. I will double check that before pullng them. My RCBS hand primer I squeezed till I couldn't squeeze anymore. This is the first time I have ever hand any issues. Almost every primer was pretty hard to seat.

    Primers didn't seat flush

They were federal match primers 210m. They say perfectly straight in my reloading trays so I didn't catch them slightly raised. My winchester primers never had this issue before. This is the 3-4 time I have reloaded this brass. Thanks for the information. I will pull the bullets and re work the...

    Primers didn't seat flush

I reloaded some rounds for my 6.5/284. Got to the range and I couldn't close the bolt. Took a look and noticed my primers aren't flush with the case head. Should I pull them? I didn't want to force the bolt closed. This is the first time I have ever had this issue. Since they are loaded I need...

    O.A.L. Gauge Readings 6.5-284

Thanks for your replies. One thing is for sure I have fairly deep free bore. I wasn't looking to seat bullet super close to lands but did want to test seating depth vs accuracy. I will start with book suggestion first then work my way out little by little. I definitely know now I have room to go...

    O.A.L. Gauge Readings 6.5-284

I have been powder testing for my 6.5/284 and have narrowed my powder and charge weight down. The next step i took was using the hornady OAL gauge to find my seating depth. I am a bit inexperienced in using it. My reading which i took 6 times was 3.140 with a 140 grain 6.5 sierra matchking I...

    220 Swift

I have the remington vs SFII with fluted bull barrel. I reload and mine shoots clover leaf big holes at 100 yards. I'm at 1,000 rounds and it is still a laser. I will just swap out barrels once I shoot this one out. Shoot it till you can grab the barrel you will be fine

What is the last gun that you bought?

I purchased a winchester all weather camo 243 WSSM to feed my odd ball caliber addiction! Next up 270 WSM and 300 WSM. Then hopefully a 264 AI.

    Buying primed brass

Thanks dude. I tried some of the primed brass and it chambered like butter! Going to load some Sunday and hit the range for some test. That is if my scopes arrive I'm time. Some of the brass is nickle plated. :)

    Buying primed brass

Yes rare is correct. I have tracked down these 250 cases and 3 new boxes of ammo for now. I'm a bit of a hoarder. I have 500 plus cases for my 220 swift and at least that much for my 6.5-284.

I just bought a 243 wssm. I won som brass on gunbroker. It arrived today and almost all of it is primed already. What do you guys normally do in this situation? Resize again and deprime and start over? Just load it up and give it a go? I can check to see if it chambers fine then use it? Just...
