Identity and Date of Manufacture of S&W Revolvers

Is +p ok in it? I'm assuming this is a standard 38 special revolver, and not the old S&W 38?

    History of the .38 short

Thank You driftwood.. thats the best time frame specific info on calibers I have got. but why call it an 1873 clone if in 1873, I couldn't get 38 (short/long) bullets for it? (because its a copy of a gun, chambered in a round that was not available in that time) Perhaps its just SAA replica...

    History of the .38 short

@BobWright - Historical accuracy is important, but I was hoping for 357/38 as I can get the rounds much cheaper than 45's. I don't reload. I haven't ruled out a 45. Seems to me a gun that is built to take 357 rounds (1930's) that is supposed to be a model of a gun built in 1873 kinda wrecks it...

    History of the .38 short

I guess what I was getting at was, .357 varieties of 1873 (clone) revolvers are perhaps historically inaccurate? It would shoot .38 special, but you can shoot 38 short from the same gun too, so if 38 short was available in 1873, that would make the reproduction much more accurate. Does that make...

    History of the .38 short

Can anyone tell me the history of the .38 short, specifically, when it was introduced? Was thinking of getting a .357 1873 clone, but wanted to get something that was historically accurate. as the 38 special was introduced in 1902 or so.

    S&W 2014 Mod 66

Can anyone point me to some reviews of this? I found a thread in the S&W forum, but was looking for a website review. Also any good examples of the matte bead blasted finish polished to a SS mirror like shine? On any gun? It sure looks like a sweet revolver. Put my hands on one this weekend in...

What 5 current production revolvers would you buy?

S&W 27, 686, & new 66. Ruger blackhawk in 45, or 357, and uberti cattleman, or el patron You then have some nice single actions, and some modern steel, some for each purpose. I'd go light on 45's due to ammo costs.

    Thiking of getting first revolver

I picked up a single six as my first revolver.. And first handgun. Love it, and got into polishing it and making it shine. Recommend. Although some may disagree, I would avoid Taurus / charter arms.
