    Lyman Accu trimmer

If you have many cases to trim, consider buying the power adapter. Since I now have a WFT for .223, I leave my Lyman trimmer set up for .308. I stick a cordless screwdriver on the power adapter and go to town.

Win 9mm Now With Crimped Primers?

WWB has been coming with some crimped primers lately...WMA & WCC headstamps.

    Lee factory crimp on 9mm

I've used both the FCD and a standard taper crimp die with both 9mm and .40. I prefer the regular taper crimp die, as it is smoother in my presses. Both get the job done, but the standard taper crimp die doesn't "post size" the entire round. This is important to me since I shoot coated/plated...

    Dillon shell plate & pins

Which model? For the 650 it's the "W" shellplate and #2 locator pins.

    40 S&W Reloading Dies

.40 is actually pretty easy to load for. It's a true straight walled case so it resizes very easily. I use Lee carbide dies. The FCD works fine, although I found a regular taper crimp die works better for the coated lead bullets I load, as it doesn't swage the bullets down when using thicker...

    147 grain 9mm bullet recommendation

I use Bayou Bullets nearly exclusively in 124 grain RN and 147 FP. They're cheap, load easy, and shoot well. Shipping is fast too.

How short is too short 124g MBC small ball?

Like others said, they have a "fatter" profile than other round nose bullets. I have a Lone Wolf stainless barrel for my G19, and I have to load Smallballs at 1.05" to get them to plunk. They feed and shoot fine, just look odd loaded. Because of this shorter OAL than what was published in my...

    Pistol measure

OP, ask yourself how often you'll realistically be changing from rifle to pistol. My Hornady PM maybe takes two minutes to change from rifle to pistol drum.

9mm shooters what weight bullet and type do you use?

124 grain Bayou coated LRN for an all around plinking round. I've also had really nice luck with 147 grain Bayou coated TCFP under Unique. I have some HP-38 coming to test with the 147s. The heavy bullet makes for a powder puff, soft recoiling round.

Where are reloading components available (Not a Discussion Thread)

No doubt. I checked the price of W231 vs. HP-38 and then the 231 was gone. My order for an 8 pounder of the Hodgdon stuff seems to have went through though.

    Powder Shopping For Newbies

Once you get into reloading good, you'll remember what powder is suitable for which cartridge. Until then, use your phone to take some photos of applicable info on the calibers you reload.

Built a new bench. funny story, and advice on press placement needed

Not having a photo of the problem or a Dillon press I can't be sure, but could you use a router to do the clearance? It would likely be much cleaner than a sawzall.

    Alliant PROMO Powder

Thanks for that wealth of info, bds! I bought an 8 lb. jug of Promo a while back to reproduce my Red Dot loads, so this is great.

    Good news on pistol powder

Yep Red Dot, Promo, and Blue Dot have been staples in my inventory since I started reloading last November. But I will say pistol powder has been showing up with surprising frequency lately. LGS recently had PB, some more Blue Dot, and 4756, even some Power Pistol. I snagged a couple pounds of...

    AutoComp opinions and results?

I originally bought a few pounds of it because it was the only suitable ball powder I could find. Worked up loads in 9mm and .40. I really like it for 9mm. I have an 8 lb jug waiting to be tapped.

Pistol Powders: Which Ones Are You Seeing ?

I received an 8 lb. jug of AutoComp from a March backorder from Grafs a couple weeks ago. At about the same time I saw AutoComp on gunbot from Cabelas, along with 800X, Titegroup, and 231. I recently grabbed an 8 pounder of Promo locally, and I have 3 or 4 pounds of Unique I got from PV a...

    Press or Bench Priming Tool??

I use the Lee Safety Prime on my Challenger press. Works fairly well for the $20 I paid for it. Also makes priming pretty quick for a single stage.

    Powder storage.

As long as your powder is stored in a cool, dry place, I don't see the need for it. There's way more stories about reloaders using decades-old powder successfully than there are stories of powder gone bad. Only thing I do is rotate through my powder from oldest to newest.

Winchester primers - yea or nay?

Since I started reloading last November, I've used several thousand Winchester SPP, several hundred LRP, and several hundred LPP. They seat smoothly and no duds. I recently tried some CCI #500 SPP, and they worked well too. They were a few dollars cheaper than the Winchester, so I may start...

How many powders in your inventory???

Just got started last year. The powder shortage has caused me to do a good deal of work ups using different powders. I'm always looking for a pound of new pistol powder for that reason. Good to have a load for any given powder with the current climate. So far: Blue Dot Red Dot AutoComp...
