    A few AR barrel questions

The right shooter, upper, scope, and ammo probably could. I dont know if you could consistently do it with a $500 or less upper. I'm not saying you couldn't.

    Complete A2 Upper - $395

For $20 more get the RRA from Eagle. Delton has good stuff, but for the price difference I would get the RRA. Just dont buy from Model1.

Remove one AR flash suppressor and install another? (A2 to 3-prong)

If it came from Bushmaster with the FS on there, it will be tight. You will probably have to use a barrel vise or an action block. I prefer the action block myself. It's an excellent $40-50 investment. You will use it along with a vise to change your upper receiver config many times over...

    A few AR barrel questions

Here is my .02. I have seen 16" barrels drive tacks at 100 and 200 yards. Personally I have no experience with them over 200 so I cant say for 300. These were 16" bull barrels. If you are looking for accuracy go with a stainless steel barrel. If you are looking to put a lot of bullets...

    New to AR's

You didnt list bolt and carrier. If you go the parts kit route I would avoid Model1sales stuff. Its the lowest quality out there in my opinion, and I speak from experience. If you get a complete parts kit, it will have everything but the stripped lower. The J&T kits are good. If you...

    Which 1911 for CCW?

Colt Officer's model. No reliability problems with mine. I like the slightly shorter grip. I am a full size guy and prefer the shorter barrel and grip. To me, it carries easier. That is just me. I carried a full size for nearly a year and I dont think I will ever go back. No problems...

SWAT team shoots suicidal Fla. student

Bad parenting is bottom line on all this stuff. How did religion get brought into this?

What tools for a new 1911 user?

Screwdriver or torx driver (depending on grip screws), punch for MSH and a plastic hammer. I seriously doubt she would need anything more. If she needs more than that its probably best left to a gunsmith. That will get you stripped down enough to do a good cleaning and replace some factory...

RRA AR15 help please. A buncha questions.

Buy the NM. The barrel is free floated. Its got a service rifle tube under the standard looking handguards. Also get the two stage NM trigger for your lower. You will not be dissapointed. Their NM uppers can flat out shoot. Lockup on the lower and upper will be tight as well. If you...

Price on a steel 10mm Witness Compact?

$250-275 range I would say as long as its in very good condition (since no box I would say 250). Seems like they are between $300-350 new. Great pistols for the money. I picked a compact up a couple years ago in .45 and used it as my main carry gun. Mags are expensive, but I've had my...

    Threading AR15 barrel

The bayonet lug is a matter of replacing the FSB (front sight base). I am sure they can do it.

6.8 Special Purpose Cartridge and is it dead?

A local smith in my town just aquired all the tools to start making 6.5 barrels. I believe he is working on an AR upper (pretty sure its a LMT MRP) for someone as well. There is a group of bench rest shooters locally that it has sparked an interest. He being more of a bench rest shooter, was...

    Wolf 7.62x39 on game?

I used winchester soft points when hunting with an SKS. Check your state regulations on legal firearms and ammo. I know in GA you cant hunt with Military ammo. Yeah, you could get into a big debate about Wolf not being military ammo(hollow point, not FMJ), but would it even be worth it to go...

6.8 Special Purpose Cartridge and is it dead?

yep, and all that stuff is available. I think part of the problem is people wanting huge amounts of surplus parts and supplies available to the general public. That hasn't happened yet

    I doubt it's dead

M16A1 triangular handguards: for looks only?

A1 buttstock is 5/8" shorter than the A2. I like the A1 length because that is what I had in the service. I would have A1 furniture all around but I went to a highpower shoot and someone told me to use the A2 handguards. Dont know if that is a rule or not, but I like the A1 pistol grip as well.

    Thoughts on the Stoeger M-2000?

I have a friend that has the Stoeger and I plan to buy one as well. They feel great. They have the same action as a Benelli. They are made by Beretta (or which ever company makes all three of the above). They do seem to have some recoil when you start pumping heavy 3" mags. I was...

    Building my own AR15

CMMG builds good stuff. You will not be disapointed. If I am not mistaking that upper is a 1 in 7, with a chrome lined barrel (that kind of answers your twist rate post).

    Twist Rate for AR15

If you are going to shoot 55gr - 62gr ammo, go with the 1 in 9. If you think you will ever want to shoot some 69gr or heavier, go with the 1 in 7". I think the 1 in 9 barrels are a lot more common. I shoot 77's out of my 1 in 8 competition rifle. I have shot 69's out of a 1 in 9, 16"...
