Here's my ar-10 next to my 5.56 ar15 I've killed a few deer with the ar-10; great hunting rifle. Can't wait to put a suppressor on it and hunt right off the back of the horses! :D Mine are both armalite, and I love 'em. I'll keep buying this brand. Love the lifetime warranty they give too!

The weight of the ar-10 will depend partly on the legnth of the barrel (same for ar-15, but more pronounced with ar-10 becuase it's already several pounds heavier). I have both, and I use my ar-10 for hunting deer in the trees where I won't be shooting that far. I have it zeroed for 300 yards...

Awesome rifle. I'd of done everything the same, but the scope I'd of gotten nightforce's 1-4x.

a hi-power my uncle had shot a bunch for years and it was well greased. I think that a well cleaned weapon should be pretty smooth. All mine feel great when I move the slide.

^ the powder burns more uniformly, I believe is the result.

I feel like there is a bigger difference between standard pressure 9mm and +p 9mm, than there is between +p9mm and 40s&W. In other words, if you like +p 9mm, you won't mind 40, but if you don't like the +p 9mm over the regular 9mm, the 40 won't follow as liked either.

The hi-power has a long slide, that I like.

Ive thought about double rifles, but come to the conclusion that I'm happy with a lever action or a bolt action for what I'd do. Not to thread drift, but I am looking for a combo shotgun rifle, which is similar. Good luck with your search. 375 hh is what I'd get in a bolt, with a close second...
