Got Some Training on the M4 Super 90 this Week.

I have to say, I am impressed. I fired approximately 500 rounds over three days, on a brand new gun, never cleaned, and it never malfunctioned. It even began to rain on us the third day. It worked with #9 skeet loads, 00 Buck, and slugs. This shotgun is certainly different from the...

Best way to break in new barrel

I think swingset said he was done with this thread because he knew plenty people would take him up on his challenge. The first time someone can explain to me what break-in accomplishes, on a metallurgical level, I'll believe it. Until then, its voodoo. In my studies of metals in...

Cleaning AR15 gas port and tube

I think 50,000 psi every time the rifle goes off does a fine job of keeping it clear.

    Cheapest AR-15 A2 Prices Around?????

I think Bushmaster is the best all-around AR (including price as a factor), but that chart is from 1999. I would bet that Rock River has multiplied its sales by a factor of 10 since then. After it was found that RRA has quality about that of the A/B/C manufacturers, they became extremely...

    Best Military/Hunting Rifle?

But Joe, making your compromises and deciding where to give and take is half the fun! I would go with a Yugo SKS for this area. Like new condition models are $150 (either AIM or SOG), and they can hold a group on the vital area of a deer out to 125 yards or so with irons. Shots around here...

Browning Gold is locked up tight! help?

Got it. Bolt was indeed cammed up into the top of the receiver. I took the trigger group off and found a good, solid portion of the carrier. I used a hammer to drive the carrier back a little, exposing the front of the bolt. I then drove the front of the bolt towards the top of the receiver...

Browning Gold is locked up tight! help?

I've tried that. I spend 2 hours a day, 5 days a week in the gym training for the Marine Corps and I have not yet been able to dislodge it using all my strength.

Browning Gold is locked up tight! help?

Today it failed to eject a spent shell (reload of questionable origin) and is now locked up. I can't pull the bolt back no matter what. It appears the bolt is cammed up into the top of the receiver, while the bolt carrier is still straight (of course). I've tried forcing the spent shell out...

    Mosin vs Mauser, my take...

The only thing here I blatantly disagree with is that the Mosin is slow to operate. C'mon! I can slap that short, straight bolt open, eject the spent round, and slap it forward and shut in no time.

    Mosin vs Mauser, my take...

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I thought I would give my opinion on the matter to see what others thought. Over the past few months I've had a lot of experience with my M44 Mosin Nagant and my M48 Yugo Mauser. They are rifles that had the same purpose, and were made about the...

Awesome deal on Federal birdshot at Galyans...

I've heard that if you know a Wal-Mart employee, you can go through them to buy the 100 round value packs by the pallet or half pallet. I've forgotten the precise number, but a pallet is several thousand rounds. The price is supposed to be about $1.85/box. However, you have to buy in bulk...

    Folks Don't Save Brass. Why?

You ever lived in a 600 ft^2 apartment? It doesn't make sense for me to compromise an entire closet for brass when I don't even reload.

    "New" M44 Carbine

While not WWII relics, remember that the Hungarian MNs could have been used in the Hungarian revolution (of 1957, I think). It's a pretty interesting history topic. Hungary was the only com-bloc country to win their independence from the USSR, even if it was only for a few days. You never...

    Dry fire a revolver?

I think the entire issue of dryfiring being detrimental to modern guns , excluding rimfires, is bunk. I dryfire ALL my weapons (except rimfires) and have never had a broken part or malfunction.
