DA/SA .45ACP semi, steel frame, decocker, night sights, 10+1, Browning-FN lockup, no controls on the slide, about the size of a J-frame. While I'm dreaming, lets have FN, SIG, or H&K make it.
For all those who have seen Collateral, I have a question as to the make of a gun. Actually, more like one-and-a-half questions:
First, the easy one. Is the USP a compact or full size? My guess goes to full.
Second, what is the gun used to stick up Max while he's tied to the cab? Someone...
for dropping the hammer on a DA/SA pistol after you chamber a round. I feel much more comfortable with pistols with decockers (FN, SIG, H&K), but it prevents me from enjoying some other great lines. Maybe I'm unreasonably uncomfortable with how I'm doing it?
Trying to come up with all the pistols made with decockers and chambered in .45. The only ones that come to mind are:
SIG 220
SIG PRO
H+K USP
There have to be others...
Anybody have an intro date for the PRO-9? I am in the market for a FNP-9 and am hoping (I'm sure in vain) that the PRO-9 has pre '94 hi-cap mags in existance.
Pretty low - around three inches at 15 yards. I tried WWB in 115gr and 147gr.
The front sight is pretty small already and has a white dot. That, and as it's part of the slide, makes me pretty hesitant to file it.
I bought a DP51 to replace a Mossberg 835 for HD* and I ran across some issues. First is that the magazine would release under the shock from recoil which is totally unacceptable. However, I have mag release springs coming which will hopefully solve the problem.
Second, the gun shoots low...
Pardon me if this has been posted before, but I was looking at getting a Taurus and downloaded the pdf manual they have on their site and ran across the following which I felt I should share.
Arrow added by me for emphasis...
I personally feel my FN HPDAc (BDA compact) is the finest handgun buy out there - period. Beats SIG, beats H&K - and that's saying a heck of a lot. When it comes to quality, the FN wins undeniably.
However, the BDA series has a weird double action trigger that many hate. I dislike DAO and...
Without a doubt, the FN HPDA. The stock area is wide to allow a double-stack magazine, but the slide area is thin like the traditional HP. Thus, slipped into an IWB, the overall package has about the same width. It eliminates the added width of the holster. Also, the compact is quite small.
I have just built a rack for my handguns. It will sit in my safe, plus I don't have a lot of access to a good shop, so it is just unfinished plywood.
Will the wood damage the finish on my guns? I have a mixture of blued, plastic and polycoat.
I have the HPDAc in DA/SA - it is the finest handgun I have had the pleasure of handling. I wouldn't personally get the DAO model, but that's me. If you search my posts, you'll find a bit more on it.
A book that was recommended to me, by members here I believe, is The Pistol Shooter's Treasury. It is a collection of older articles, mostly focusing on basic marksmanship with an eye towards competition. It really helped me out regarding trigger control and sight picture. Highly recommended...
If I'm reading correctly, you were looking at the FN HPDA & HPDAc. They come in four flavors; any combination of fullsize or compact and DA/SA or DAO. They are also rumored to have been made in .40S&W, but I've never seen one for sale. All can come with night sights, but CDNN has only the DAOs...
I don't know, my fiance and I rented a Daewoo (car) in Vegas and we loved it.
Came reeeal close to buying a DP51 this year, but turned back. Figured I'd save the money for something I really wanted, like an Astra A75 in .45 or another FN HPDA.
