    Chiappa Rhino - less safe?

A tempest in a teapot, but if one worry's about damage to your hand if a Rhino goes boom, hands a easy to fix and you have two. Now if you blow off the top hall of your revolver, you put your face and eyes at risk. in any event, try not to stare down the barrel checking that hang fire. Dave

    Revolvers Chambered in 40 S&W

Correct, hadn't had my first cup of coffee when I posted. My bad. Dave

    Revolvers Chambered in 40 S&W

S&W also offered a 'pure' 10mm, the Model 646. Even tougher to find than the 610. No, mine is not for sale. Dave

    Chiappa Rhino - less safe?

And if my arms were wings and my legs were jet engines would I be a Boeing 737? Come on, anything can happen to any mechanical device. If that is your concern, don't shot anything, all guns can suffer from these types of failures. Dave

    Question about 327 Federal Magnum

It will shoot the 32ACP but not reliably or consistently. Like any rimless round in a revolver, the case may be a bit too far forward in the chamber or move forward against the strike. You would need moon clips to have reliable function and, of course, extraction. Plus, I've never seen 32ACP...

    Question about 327 Federal Magnum

Well, the 32S&W at $15 for 50 does make for a cheap centerfire plinker and you can shoot the full house 327s when you want the extra 'oomph'. I enjoy my 327s quite a bit. Dave

    Really really expensive gun!!

Korth has been fairly well chewed over at The various forums. In my opinion, very overpriced. If you want a great DA buy an older S&W and have it super tuned and modified by someone like Hamilton Bowen and you will get a far better gun for the same outlay. He did a S&W 520 I own, converted to...

    S&w .500

Ballistic Supply sells 500SW for a very reasonable price, far less than the 'big' companies and in a variety of loads. They have a couple loads sub 100fps that are quite mild shooting in the heavy 500 platform, even sans muzzle brake such as my Performace Center/John Ross gun. Dave

How does the S & W Model 617 revolver compare to the new Taurus revolver in .22 LR

The 617 is far better. You want a good 22 DA. Find a 22 Trooper or a good, used OM 22 Colt. Either will pit the Taurus to shame. Dave

    9mm Revolvers

The 'creme de la creme' of 9mm revolvers is the late, lamented S&W 547. Unlke all others, it was designed as a dedicated 9mm variation on the Model 10, usable without moon clips and featuring a floating firing pin and a secondary pin to hold the rim properly to ensure proper seating for reliable...

    How rugged is a Ruger SP101 2.5"?

I agree with the last post. Your hand will give out before the SP. However, unless you need the SP for CCW, I'd step up to the GP100. 2000 rounds a year will be less punishing and it's an 'easier' shooter. Dave

    Colt New Service

Assuming the timing etc is good and it locks up fine, the NS is built like a tank. To be on the safe side, shoot the lower pressure 'cowboy loads'. Dave

    Colt New Service

Very little as sweet or as accurate as a NS Target in 44 Special/Russian (they amre usually dual marked and will shoot either round). I have an early model and a very late, 1930s NS Target in 44 and they are great guns. Too labor intensive to be resurrected today. The closeset your are going to...

    New P.C. John Ross S&W 500

I have a black/stainless shipping Tuesday. Looking forward to it. By the way, the best source for ammo is Ballistic Supply, nice variety of loads and very reasonably priced. Dave
