    Springfield Armory XD-E

Pros: it's an XD. I like the grip on those guns. It has a manual safety which I also like. It's slim and compact. I've recently gotten away from DA/SA but maybe I'll come back some day. Cons: heavy at 25 oz. especially for a single stack. 8+1

    Pistol Safeties I have Loved.

I like the safety on a 1911. I like the safety on my FNSc, though small it is positive. Never had a problem with the safety on my Beretta. Did not like the safety on the M&Pc. VERY SQUISHY. I require a safety on all my firearms.

AlienGear Holsters? Any experiance with these.

These are great holsters. Put some thread lock on the screws and you're good to go. You get a lot of spare parts, unlimited shell exchanges, great warranty. At $30-$40 why pay more??

Why do SAO handguns need manual safeties, but striker fired ones dont?

There are some other options out there but a little harder to find. I recently bought a FNS 9c with a manual safety. Really happy with it so far. Finding one with the manual safety was hard. Most gun stores looked at me weird when I said I actually wanted a safety. I ended up buying one online.

    Gun Insurance

Howdy folks. I need some insurance to cover my guns in case of loss or theft. Now I don't have priceless heirlooms or collector pieces, just some handguns and long guns. I used to have an NRA membership that came with insurance but I let it expire. Any suggestions?

Why do SAO handguns need manual safeties, but striker fired ones dont?

I prefer my guns to have a manual safety. Some have the opinion that I should not be allowed to carry a gun because this means (in their mind) that I can't keep my finger off the trigger. This is not true. Lucky for me this is a free country and they don't get to make the rules.

Gander Mountain to file for bankruptcy

I do that too. I feel bad about it like I'm using them or taking advantage.

Perhaps it's time for a new forum rule ... or two

Why do people say they lost their guns in a boating accident?

    1911 or AR

I was at a similar crossroad. I chose the AR. Political winds can shift at the drop of a hat. Meanwhile a 1911 is legal even in places like California.

    External Safety vs No Safety

I've tried to talk about how a manual safety is good on YouTube videos and people tear me a new one in the comment section. So this is a refreshing change for once. The reason I use a safety is simple. Where I live there are a lot of gun free zones. I find myself reholstering in the car, in the...

    I didn't know that. Thanks!

    U.S Army picks Sig.

Wow. I have no experience with Sig guns so not sure if this is good or bad. Does this mean Sig will produce a gun with a safety for civilians?

    Bought wrong ammo!

Just came back from bass pro. I really enjoy being able to look at the ammo myself. Had too many bad experiences and won't buy ammo behind the counter.

GREAT day at the pistol range yesterday

I grew up going to the range with my dad who likes to shoot for groups from a rest. I never really enjoyed it. Years later when I got my ccw as an adult I realized I needed to learn to shoot in a practical way and now I'm a shooter. Me and dad still go to the range. He shoots for groups and I...

    Most regretted gun purchase?

Another good thread here. I agree it should stick around. Just to summarize; stay away from the P22, kel-tec and kahr were also repeat offenders.

    HK VP-9 fails torture test

My point was a rebuttal that these tests are irrelevant or meaningless. They have real world consequences so that makes them meaningful. Probably not enough to make a serious dent in the sales of Hk but still...

    HK VP-9 fails torture test

I believe that credibility counts. The world of gun reviews is based on opinions and the only that separates them is credibility. As far as sample size well that's a funny thing. I know people that won't own a Beretta because their buddy said his M9 was garbage. Not understanding that particular...

    HK VP-9 fails torture test

I find the tests legit. I care about a sample size of one especially the one on my right hip. Tim is not some random "yahoo" he served in the Marine Corps and is highly regarded in the firearms community.
