    Cheap ammo on the Web

Things are even tougher than when this was first posted, as many can attest. I would suggest doing an internet search, Google or whatever, on the caliber and load you're after. I've found a few cubby holes on the web after wading through forum posts, websites specializing in militaria or...

    best Mini-14 magazine

Howdy, Loggerlee. Can I ask how long you've had the 10, and how much you had to give for it? I finally found a second one, but they're scarce.

What's the holy grail of firearms?

Gyrojet? I'd be surprised if that much ammo was ever made.

    Does Anybody Hunt on Horseback?

As a city guy I have to tell you what you've got with that fine country and animals is the closest thing to heaven. The most riding I did was at Scout summer camp, most of the day every day for a week. Got the merit badge. 2 years in a row (they had an extra slot)! And the bruises! Never hunted...

    .308 for home defense?

There's always grenades...kill radius measured in feet. You might even be able to get the house put back in order on one of those home remodeling shows on DIY Network...

    .308 for home defense?

You tend to do what you have to do with what is at hand at the time. I decided a centerfire rifle wasn't the best in town when I saw how .308 went thru foot-thick trees. A 12ga shotgun won't do that, at least. Rifles carry many times farther than shotguns. That and a rifle is more difficult to...

Citi Credit Card Rejects Firearms Industry

Its also not good to "churn" your cards- closing one and immediately opening another- too often. I'm sure they do a credit check every time you apply for one, and that itself can lower your credit score. That problem will also occur if you go shopping for a car loan and they check your credit...

Citi Credit Card Rejects Firearms Industry

Card companies often do that, Mark, especially with bankruptcy. Doesn't matter if it was "out of it" or not, if its in your name. They will even up your rate if you are late with too many utility bills, obviously nothing to do with your credit cards. All this is in that fine print nobody makes...

Citi Credit Card Rejects Firearms Industry

Last Consumer Reports I saw gave Cabela's card high marks for not bumping up the interest rate at the drop of a hat and having good customer service. I don't know what bank it was through. CR is pretty good about rooting out smaller banks that have attractive credit card attributes. Citi and...

Citi Credit Card Rejects Firearms Industry

Don't cut your limit too much. Your score partially depends on the ratio of what you owe to what credit you have available. $1000 limit is plenty if you limit purchases to gas and groceries and pay them off every month. Most fees will be paid indirectly by you anyway. The seller pays a...

Citi Credit Card Rejects Firearms Industry

I can see the fraud angle in play here, but what about FFL to FFL transfers? There would seem to be an easy workaround by making the receiving FFL the actual face to face point of sale. I'd like to know what other "industries" they invoke this policy...

    vacuum sealing guns?

You can improve things with desiccants by putting in more than is required to remove all the moisture, thus making sure none is saturated. As long as the drying agent is kept from direct contact with the metal, it usually isn't a problem. The vacuum won't suck the oil out as long as you don't...

    .308 for home defense?

Do some "Mexican Home Defense" rounds. Take some 147gr Ball, pull the bullets. Buy some frangible projectiles from Polygunbag, and seat them in place of the Ball projectiles. They'll go to powder upon hitting anything solid, but ruin anyone's day they strike first. Or better yet, stick to...

I like having an Arisaka propping up the bedroom corner. Nobody would ever figure it would actually shoot.

Why is the Arisaka action so strong?

Here's to Frank...the ultimate sober bender master. Only concert I ever went to as a youngster was one of his. You could literally get stoned just being in the audience the smoke was so thick. Arisakas prior to the last ditch days are ugly, safe, and legendarily strong. I have one courtesy of...

Why is the Arisaka action so strong?

I own a lot of Floyd, but lots of other stuff too, like The Beach Boys and the Eagles. No drugs here. The killer with Arisakas is ammo. Spendy no matter what. Norma is about it, even if you handload. You can fire '06 in one, but I don't recommend it unless its to repel boarders.
