Need help picking a new carbine

A great little 9mm rifle is the Marlin Camp Carbine. These sell in the $350 range and are still fairly available, unlike the .45acp version which is hard to find and sells for double that.

    Ruger P345 opinions

I had two of these, and my experience is much different than everyone else's. First one would not fire intermittently (I never dry fired it). Pull the trigger and the hammer wouldn't release. Sometimes it did but no boom. Sent it in to Ruger and they "fixed" it. Well, it didn't happen as often...

What other civilian rifles use M-1 carbine .30 rounds?

Another M1 carbine owner here. I have a WW2 Inland in an older Federal Ordnance (I think) underfolder with 10 30-round mags as a SHTF grab-and-go defensive gun. I just wish that S&W or Ruger would make a double action revolver (Taurus did but I didn't like it; they have questionable quality...

semi auto carbine in 9mm, with 18.5" barrel or longer

Another vote for the Marlin Camp Carbine. What a great rifle!

    M1 30cal Carbine Hunting Load ?

I had a coworker years back who used his M1 for deer hunting. He was successful every year because like others have suggested, it's the shot placement that counts. I don't remember if they were white tail or mule deer, but regardless he had plenty of venison!

Cheap M1 Carbine too good to be true?

Are the rest of his guns either fairly priced, or overpriced? Does he charge more for say, a Glock than most dealers? I have found when someone with normally high prices is selling something cheaper than anybody else, something is fishy.

    9mm revolver?

A word of advice. Don't load your half- or full-moon clips with aluminum Blazer ammo because the case expansion after firing will lock those cases in! I found this out the hard way with my S&W Model 25-2, so from then on it was brass cased ammo.

    What's the best polymer semi-auto?

Out of the box: HK USP Great once you do some necessary mods: Glock I have three Glocks, and I modified them all with extended slide releases and extended slide takedown levers which I feel should have been standard equipment.

    SW1911 Opinions?

I have their bottom of the line model with Novak sights. This pistol right out of the box was accurate, reliable and beautifully made. The only issue I had was the grip screws would loosen after a couple hundred rounds. I tightened them back up using a regular flat blade screwdriver (which is a...

    p345 misfires 3 in a row?????

I had a P345 and it was very problematic. I sent it in twice and it came back with the same problem, so on the third time I mailed it back I asked for a refund. They sent me my money back in full.

    DEA agent shoots himself...

He just appeared on Bill O'Reilly with his attorney. He shot himself in his left thigh, saying that he had a .40 round in his pocket which actually deflected the fired round making the wound not as bad as it could have been.

    Synthetic M1 Carbine Furniture?

I have an underfolder for my M1 which not only works great but looks cool too. With a 30 round magazine attached, I just have to reposition the buttplate to clear the magazine when I fold it. I got this stock on ebay, with the ventilated handguard, for $90

    Luger Help/ID?

As you probably have guessed, 1917 was the year it was made and there should also be a fancy script "DWM" mark or the name ERFURT on the top as well. It sounds like a matching # pistol, and correct WW1 era Lugers (the correct name is the P.08) will have magazines that have wood bottoms. As for...

Why does Wolf ammo have a bad rap?

I bought a case of 1000 rounds of .45acp from Cheaper Than Dirt, luckily with a full money back guarantee. Out of the first box, I had 10 misfires (light primer strikes), several stovepipes, and that atrocious ammonia smell in an indoor range was too much. I boxed up the remaining ammo (around...

rem 700 ltr vs vssf vs sendero sf II

Anyone know why they don't make the Sendero in .30-06? I wrote to Remington a few years ago and asked them, but I never heard from anyone. I would have thought it to be a primary caliber for such a rifle.

Old friend coming back (m1 carbine back in my possesion)

With the bayonet lug it is a postwar rebuild as they were nonexistent during WW2. You'll have to provide lots of pics to get an accurate value, to include the rear sight, trigger grouping, safety, magazine release, bolt, and maker stamps on the receiver and on the barrel.
