    Sharps Help

Great info...Thanks! Like I said, I'm waiting for a consignment gun to sell before I buy mine so your experience will definately affect my choice. Glad you like the carbine cuz that's the way I was leaning. I like something easy to transport around in the woods and I've held both long model...

Dessert Scorpion Shootin those Jack bunnies sounds like great sport. Just make head shots and you can eat them! BTW, What bullet are you shooting in the Sharps? Also, does the model you bought have the 48:1 barrel twist ratio or 22:1 ? That shooting pose you described reminded me of the one...

    .44 1860 Army

One more opinion Buddy I think you need a mentor or coach. Find a local group of BP shooters and ask for some training on your pistol and shooting of same. They will enjoy working with you as that's the way we are <grin>. Good luck.

    Sharps Help

Smitty Thanks Smitty. I'm wondering if I look hard enough there may be some kind of brass plumbing cap that would happen to fit or be easy enough to turn down to work. Add a hole and make an extractor to pluck it out with with and 'oila. BTW, did you get a PM from me? I was hoping you'd...

    Sharps Help

Sharps paper cartridge carbine I posted this on another BP thread too. Hoping to get some replies: Anyone here have something good to say about the Sharps paper cartridge carbines? I'm wondering if they have too many problems to bother with. I like the idea of a breech loading shooter that...

Sharps paper cartridge guns Anyone here have something good to say about the Sharps paper cartridge carbines? I'm wondering if they have too many problems to bother with. I like the idea of a breech loading shooter that doesn't require brass cleaning, priming and resizing or buying. Seems like...

Quicker?! How can loading your '58 out of the gun on a bench press be quicker than using paper cartridges? Unless you only shoot 6 shots and go home :what:

    What Powder?

Thanks! I've been away from here for awhile. Long story, but I didn't blow myself up LOL. Just wanted to say thanks to all who advised and commented on my (old now) questions concerning load, cal and bullets. I'm still using factory ammo but saving all the brass. Work demands have me sidetracked...

Paper Cartridges, step by step photos..

Filler amount I've noticed from some of the pictures previously posted that most have a filler added above their powder beneath the bullet. Some look to be almost equal to the powder charge in volume. Is there some reason for this? I've been shooting my Remington '58 for a few years now and...

    Sharps Help

IAB Sharps Me too! I've found at a local gun store a 1863 model .54 cal sharps carbine paper cartridge type rifle. It has a 22" brl with a saddle ring apparatus. Love the way it feels but I'm concerned about how it may shoot. I've heard about the "leaky" breech problem and wonder if it can be...

    What Powder?

Which powder still I wouldn't mind buying two powders. I'm going to be reloading .45Colt, .380, and .32 S&W long. My Colt is not a Ruger so "cowboy" loads are needed. It does shoot regular factory ammo as it's a modern pistol just not made for hot loading. Would Unique fill all three needs but...

Do you wanna know why people like Smith & Wesson ?

Smith&Wesson affection To me Smith&Wesson means other things. Old Clint was still Rowdy Yates on Rawhide when I was begging my dear old Granny to let me hold her model 31 Smithy. I always wanted that gun but after Granny passed away one of my cousins stole it and from what some figured and we...

    ID a S&W .32 revolver

Again thanks "Fuff" You know your stuff buddy! The frame is just as you said. I removed the grips that are on mine. They're nice genuine stag but I want something more S&W for it and also a little more bulk for my hand. Now that I know any J-frame round butt grips will work it makes the search...

Trigger pull One more thing that came to mind. The DA pull on this pistol is a bear. Are trigger jobs easily available? $$? I bought a kit to do my own on my Colt SA, is that as easily done on the S&W .32long?

    ID a S&W .32 revolver

Thanks for the info... You mentioned the J frame grip would work with modification. What kind? Just an exacto knife trimming maybe? If it is 1/8" too long would I need to drill an new screw hole and fill in the provided one? I'd prefer a checkered walnut one with a nickle logo. On the S&W web...
