My father in law collected for many years, I added alot to that... ( I have 5 pre G actions ) & nearly every barrel they ever made ( & a few they never did ;) )... the hardest part for me to maintain the collection, was to scope all the barrels that really warrented having a scope on them...

good thread... I bought myself an Alaskan ( in 454 Casull ) for Christmas, & while it's both huge & heavy, it probably wouldn't be any tougher to carry conceiled than my 4" GP-100 ( which I carry very rarely ), of course dependant on finding a good holster... I have seen the Simply Rugged...

My understanding as well... use 158 or heavier ( I like the 180's ) & with the Dan Wessons, being able to keep the barrel cylinder gap tight helps with the flame cutting... my D.W. Supermag has taken several northern Whitetail deer... almost no flame cutting visible also have 2...

Love the CZ's myself... but as guessed by my forum name... for practicality I'm a wheel man... love my new air weight J frame in 32 H&R Magnum... but when all is said & done, my 4" Stainless GP-100 always gets the nod, for everything but conceiled carry...

count me in too... my father in law had an extensive collection of Contender actions & barrels... all the old TCU / Herret, & a few odd ball exotic cartridges etc ( also had all the loading dies / data )... after I inherited the collection, I continued to add to it every chance I got... probably...

I have 5 - 22 hornet guns... you didn't mention the Ruger M77... I haven't shot a "Handi"... but my TC's are tack drivers... & my CZ holds it's own with the TC's & has the benifits of being a repeater... I have shot the Ruger, & against a few of them, & my "older" CZ "typically" outshoots them...

Several weeks ago I bought my 1st... a 431 PD in 32 H&R Magnum... I'm really impressed with this little air weight... I can easily ( & all day if I wanted to ), shoot 6" groups at 20 yards with this little gun... the gun is actually pleasurable to shoot, highly accurate, not "imeadiately"...

I just bought a S&W 431 PD in 32 H&R Magnum, & it is litterally a joy to shoot, & still holds 6 rounds instead of 5...

Of course you already have a slug of good advice... since you weren't implying specifically "conceiled carry" & mentioned more home defense, I find a 3" - 4" stainless ( size bigger frame ) revolver in 357 mag, to be as versitile as anything... my preferance is a 4" barrel stainless Ruger...
