The G19 is the way to go. Good for USPSA Production Division and IDPA Stock Service Pistol Division. Non-race holster worn on the side (no appendix). In both of the above divisions, mag capacity is limted to 10+1. In IDPA, you want at least 3 mags. In USPSA, you likely want 5 mags...

Here is the deal on putting steel out and leaving it out...at "close range". Somebody will shoot it with their rifle. It will get dinged up. Nobody will be around to catch the person that did it willingly...nor inform the person that did so without the knowledge that it wasn't a good idea...

Clearly you aren't being allowed to do what you want to do...and what you feel you ought to be allowed to do. The flip side of that is...every range I have been to has had steel targets ruined. As I understand it, it take special steel (T1 or 500) to stand up to high powered rifle...
