Thanks for all the replies! I guess the 223 is the obvious choice. It seems like 7.62 has more personality because it's less popular, and I'd kinda like an excuse to get a Galil ACE in 7.62... but that's kinda a silly reason to go with 7.62 :)
Steel 7.62x39 ammo is pretty cheap, but it's my understanding that reloading steel ammo is questionable.
Good brass 5.56 ammo is significantly more, but I could reload it.
For me, it feels like a coin flip. Is reloading rifle ammo significantly more difficult? I don't want to have to get a...
I have a LCR with a bright polished cylinder, and it looks great, but I think the trigger really stands out in a bad way. It looks so dull.
It would be cool to have a red trigger. I think red triggers look really good on certain things, like a red Kidd trigger on a 10/22 looks great.
I...
I think I'm going to have to try the Kahr P380 and the Taurus TCP. I really like that the Kahr has real sights, but maybe it's not worth paying twice as much ast the TCP.
I like my Glock and I almost feel like I might as well stick with what I know, but ... I don't see the real advantage in...
I think the Kahr CW380 or CT380 or P380 look like something I'd like to try. If it has a better trigger than the Taurus TCP then I'm pretty sure I'd love it if it's at all tolerable to shoot. And you say it's easier to shoot than the LCR? I don't mind the LCR at all for the first 50 shots, but...
EDIT: I'm sorry, I originally said I had a LCP, but I meant I have an LCR. I have the Ruger 5-shot .38 revolver. So I'm looking for something a little easier to carry than that.
I have a Glock 26 which I really like, but it's really too big to carry comfortably.
So I got a Ruger LCR, and I...
"Why give the bad guy an easy to see target?"?
Because I like the way it looks. No, really. That's important to me, and I think the current LCR with a stainless trigger and stainless barrel looks kinda weird without the stainless cylinder. I like the way the original LCR looks. I want my...
I lived down the street from them for years. Unfortunately now I'm back in Ohio and I'll have to mail it in.
I was looking around and saw that NP3 is a very matte finish, and NiB gets a gold-ish tint after awhile. Is that true?
I know it sounds dumb, but I don't really want it to clash...
I have a new LCR .38. The cylinder has a dark finish on it, not plain stainless like the older ones. I think getting the cylinder hard chromed would look nice and be easier to clean.
Is this a bad idea? The trigger and barrel are stainless steel and pretty shiny, but maybe it would look...
Relatively cheap? Everywhere I've been .40 ammo is almost as much as .45.
If you're only concerned with muzzle energy, why not get a .357 SIG or 10mm?
.40 wouldn't be so popular if it wasn't good, but it just kinda strikes me as having a 9mm that can only fire more expensive and less...
I get that .40 has slightly better ballistics with slightly worse capacity, but if you look at good ammo like Federal HST, you're really splitting hairs between calibers.
So to me it comes down to the fact that .40 and .45 practice ammo is significantly more expensive than 9mm, and to me the...
I think using a S&W 351PD (22 mag revolver) is reasonable for self-defense. I don't think using a Kel-Tec 22 autoloader is, though. I doubt it's nearly as reliable as a Ruger autoloader.
Until they make a 12-gauge with the recoil of a .22 that weighs 8 oz. and fits in your pocket, everything is going to be a compromise.
You jog with a P226? One of those weighs as much empty as my Glock 26 weighs with 10 rounds, and there are plenty things lighter than a Glock. I jog quite a...
Wow. OP sure is immature.
A Glock 26 with 10 rounds weighs less than an empty P7, and the Glock certainly isn't the lightest thing out there.
The P7 is awfully cute and clever. I thought I'd like one till I handled one, but it felt totally wrong the way it balanced in my hand.
I know that you can swap slide assemblies between a gen3 Glock 17 and a Glock 34, but does anybody know if I can make a gen4 Glock 34 by putting the slide assembly on a new gen4 Glock 17?
Also, do I have to take it to a gunsmith to get the lighter trigger after I do the swap, or could I...
If you're going to use a .380, the Hornady XTP 90gr and Remington Golden Saber 102gr are the best ammo. They expand to about .45" and penetrate to about 12" through denim. Most other ammo either doesn't expand reliably or else it overexpands and gets very poor penetration.
But .380 is not...
