It really depends on the primers they used. A lot of surplus have very hard primers as they were intended to military arms, especially machine guns. Browning set their guns up to run sporting ammo.
He told me that he took it to a gun show in a bag and laid the bag on a table where someone took it. I figured he took it there to trade or sell and maybe it just disappeared. A lot can happen in 30 or 40 years.
I purchased a Randall no 1 yesterday. The owner had his name engraved on it so I found him and had the deputy sheriff go to his home and have him call me. He described the knife to me and I'm certain it's his. I bought it for one of our sons and gave it to him last night as yesterday the...
Our son bought one at Bass Pro. I picked it up to test the trigger (non accutrigger). It must be over 12lbs. The bolt lift is horrendous for any bolt gun. I told him to call a Savage gunsmith tomorrow to get this straightened out.
I was at a friends range sighting in an old Weaver k3 or k 2.5. Once I had it dialed in he asked me if I could hit his target at 200 yards. I knew I could if I could get the elevation correct. I shot 15 times and he sent his grandson to retrive the target. It had 15 holes and not a bad group...
I had a high power that had an adjustable rear sight. I was shooting it at the range and I noticed my groups were stringing so I inspected the sights and the screw and spring were gone and nowhere to be found. I called Browning and they sent me the parts to fix it along with a bill for $5.50...
We had 2 gunsmith in ne fl named Walker. The nephew used to make rifles and did outstanding work. His name was Lee Walker. I think the odds of it being him are pretty good.
Before you leave the states you had better register your firearm's with CBP on a 4457 even if they are American made. I am a retired Customs Broker and have seen my share of legally owned guns seized upon entry w/o this paperwork. The registration form serves as your entry for your firearms...
It all boils down to what you are used to. I much prefer the coc lee enfields as they are quick on follow up shots. I can't imagine having any other bolt gun in the heat of battle.
When I was about 16 or so there was an older man who had a 92 rifle in .44-40 and a Savage 99 in .250-3000. He let us shoot both and I was amazed at the Winchester. I should have asked him if he wanted to sell it, but I was in the market for a whiz bang .243.
My first 66 was my constant companion. It went with me wherever I went. My Dad told me I needed to sell it and get a new one as the barrel much be shot out. I took his advice and regret it now because there was nothing wrong with it. Dad used to give me his old golf balls and I would...
I'm thinking that 336 .30-30 will be better as you know it and it is a very capable rifle especially in the hands of someone who has carried and shot it for decades. Personally I would not switch for all the tea in China.
