I thought the same thing, but it has since been explained to me thusly:
922(o) effectively repealed NFA '34 ONLY in regards to MG's made after May 19, 1986. You cannot (if you live in Jurisdiction of the court that made this ruling) be prosecuted under NFA law. Instead, you must be...
What kind of case would that be?
Wouldn't someone need to be arrested for owning an illegal machine gun in order to bring a case forward? Who wants to do that??
What about the guy current appealing his conviction for possession of MG when all he had was a malfunctioning AR?
I agree. I think everyone, without exception, would agree that a majority opinion penned by Scalia is only going to go one way. Since SCOTUSblog doesn't make predictions, they basically had to retract the statement, somehow.

I have to say, unfortunately, that you and the Utah S.P. are mistaken.
Twice I have started fires with my Mosin Nagant. Steel core Czech ammo.
If you don't think its possible, try shooting at a distant rock after dark. You will be amazed at the shower of sparks.

I popped in here looking for the same info. Anyone know who I should/should not be casting a vote for? And why?

PS: Found out my mailman is a gun guy! I happened to be outside when he delivered the mail today. The NRA mag was right on top, with a cover related to Heller. He...
Not to read too far into that statute, but wouldn't it actually forbid the BATFE from conducting operations since they are Federal and not part of the Commonwealth Gov't??

I'm not sure what he's arguing, exactly, but lets take this step by step.
Every colony had lengthy militia statutes which were then revised by the states after they gained independence. These regulations could be quite intrusive, allowing government to keep track of who had firearms and...
So, my memory did serve me well! (except of course I thought it was Jefferson Davis..)
The actual quote is even MORE damaging to your lawyer friend than I imagined. First, it shows that all citizens were allowed/expected to bear arms in public. Second, it shows that ALL citizens were members...
I've had one AD and one ND.
First, the AD. Well, really mechanical malfunction. I was out shooting with my buddies. I had an AK. We had backed up the truck (an old fullsize Blazer) to the firing line (out in the forest). I fired a mag and went back to the truck to reload. I went to lay...
I'm having trouble locating this, but maybe someone can help. When anyone takes just a short section of a statement and quotes only that segment, one MUST question why. Generally, it is because the full statement either does not support the position presented, OR completely refutes it. In this...
It’s better to try and fail than to have never tried at all.
If I was in that mall alone, without my family, I believe I would have done everything possible to stop the shooter. Even if I was unarmed, I'm sure I could have found something to throw at him. Would my family miss me if I lost...
+1
Accidents will happen, and the father and son should be EXTREMELY apologetic (not that this necessarily qualifies as an accident...). Thanks for you insight, I hope you stick around. You might find you like it here!
