Let's see... Weatherby mark v ultralight off of a pretty comfortable card table/ sandbag set up. Careful hand loads with barnes 100 gr. Tipped tsx and 66 gr. Imr 4831. Bottom of a pretty deep rock pit so very little wind but shots seem to string more horizontally than vertically. Probably just...

I can shoot 2" groups at 200 yards all day long with with my .257 Wby. But I'm lucky to get 3 shots inside 8" at 300. What the heck am I doing wrong?

Just bought my first neck sizing die. This is safe if the brass has already been fired in it's designated rifle, right? Also, should I be "partial neck sizing" by turning the die back a turn off the shell holder? Pros and cons?

Has anyone used Berger VLD's for deer. Would this bullet be appropriate for a high velocity cartridge like the .257 Wby?

Should I crimp tipped TSX bullets for 257 Weatherby? If so should I crimp on one of the grooves or forward of all grooves?

What is your case prep routine for once fired brass bought as factory cartridges? Do you trim it if it's already under max length? Do you bevel the case mouth if you skipped trimming?

I'm loading rifle cartridges for the first time for my .30-06.Someone told me that to figure out how deep to seat the bullet you should make a dummy cartridge and leave it long. Then close it in the action of your rifle and let the lands push the bullet in. Measure that and subtract .003 or .004...
