    How Much Do Looks Matter?

In a defensive gun, looks really don't mean much. It's a tool and all that really matters is that it's reliable, accurate and powerful enough to get the job done. Besides, it'd be an awful shame for a beautiful gun to rot away in a police evidence locker. In a sporting gun, looks mean quite a...

Name them. The ugliest FACTORY rifle, pistol, & shotgun.

Anything made by Lorcin or Jennings. There's nothing uglier than unreliability.

    Carry rights on private property?

If you choose to come onto my property and behave in a manner that bothers me, you are interfering with my life and your behavior becomes my business. Whether that behavior is wearing a gun, using drugs or shouting obscenities doesn't matter. Whether that property is a home or business doesn't...

    Should Retailers/Wholesalers Use THRs Classifieds?

Create a sub-forum for commercial sales, charge the retailers a nominal user's fee (after all, if they're using the site like a storefront, they ought to pay rent) and only allow reputable companies to advertise. Seems like a good idea to raise some revenue for the site or to help fund Mr...

Book Discussion: "Deer Hunting With Jesus"

I flipped through a copy at the local library, but didn't pay much attention. I'll make sure to check it out next time I go there. Great thread, by the way.

    Peculiarities in Gun Taste?

I don't see any problem with polymer parts in guns, but I can't stand polymer framed pistols. I guess I just don't like the way they feel, compared to steel or aluminum framed pistols. Though I appreciate the work it takes to build an extremely accurate rifle, sub-MOA groupings don't interest...

    irrational and unfounded fears

I hate misfires. No matter how long I leave the faulty cartridge in the chamber, I always think it'll go off as soon as I cycle it out of the weapon. That's mainly why I stopped shooting Pakistani ammo in my Enfield.

    Rifles to drool over

I'd really love to have a double rifle in .375 H&H caliber. Unless I win the lottery, it ain't gonna' happen.

The human face of big-city murders

Good article. True. In fact, there are four types of homicide--felonious, accidental, justifiable and praiseworthy. ;)

    Appleseed shoot question...

Gents, I've been hoping to attend an Appleseed shoot for quite sometime, but I'd never been able to work it into my schedule. I'd either be horribly busy on the days that classes took place, or I'd have plenty of time to myself and there would be no classes nearby. Now, finally, there is a...

What do my fellow gun enthusiasts do for a living?

I work as a clerk in a book store. Doesn't pay a lot, but I enjoy it (books are the only things I care more about than firearms). Occasionally I supplement my income by selling some of my plasma...

Best Gun Movie for American Gun Culture

I haven't read her book, so I can't comment on it, but she did right a pretty good article on the "gun culture" for Reason Magazine. It was entitled, "Their Aim is True." It can be read online, here.
