    Pig rifle

I kind of envy you guys that can hunt hogs in your neck of the woods.

    Coyote/wolf defense.

The Eastern Coyote has wolf-DNA, and up here they are beginning to hunt in packs. Many are being taken in the 40-50 pound range now, and trail cams are seeing them taking full-sized deer. Its only a matter of time before they discover that hikers and leaf-peepers might taste pretty good as well...

    Bead blasting question

Bad pitting can be filled with another Duracote product called DuraFill. I've redone several badly-pitted guns - some so bad, the pits were craters - with DuraFill, and afterwards, you couldn't tell there were any pits at all.

Shotgun Refurb: Need Coatings Prep Advice.

I've used JB Weld under Duracote to fill in checkering on a stock I did once. It came out real good. I sandblasted the stock and soaked it in acetone for a week to leach-out all of the oils. I used to be a printing machinery mechanic. I used this titanium putty...

    AGI?

I would say that if you already have a solid platform of experience as a machinist, and if you are good at self-study, then the AGI courses would be right up your alley. Otherwise, starting out fresh and expecting AGI to teach you all the nuances of machining and gun work, then you will fail...

Andy! How's that XD45 working? Still got it? I passed off that Kimber to my son. :)

Shotgun Refurb: Need Coatings Prep Advice.

There's an old Stevens side-by-side 12 gauge at the local shop. Its going for cheap money. I'm probably going to go get it tomorrow, and add yet another distraction to my already distracted life. The gun is probably '60s vintage, from the looks of it. Double triggers. Huge dent in the left...

Issues with new S&W 500 PC (Large Pics)

Agreed. Nothing like holster wear and a few thousand rounds down the pipe to give a gun some character.

Plz help me decide which .44 mag to purchase

I traded in my 629, which was an excellent gun, on TWO Ruger Alaskans. I've taken delivery of the first one, and I am still waiting for the second one to come in. The 629 had a long barrel, and while it carried well, it was a still a heavy hogleg to tote around. The Alaskan is very nice. Its...

Why are AR trigger assemblies so expensive?

Because people buy them. Why are Harley Davidson motorcycles so expensive? Because people buy them. They are cool to own, and a status symbol, just like ARs. Why is gas so expensive? Because we buy it. Stop buying so much and the price will go down.

    Gunsmithing course? AGI video courses?

I investigated the AGI course. The price made my rectum pucker, but it seemd like the info was solid. My advice would be to learn machining. Go to a local tech school or college to learn it right, then take some time to watch DVDs and read gunsmithing books. Buy old crappy guns and "blueprint"...

You may need a special tap, such as a size 6-48. If so, you can get one of those at midway too.

    Gun cleaning Simplified?

Maybe I'm just an old New England Yankee, but I never could understand why people will spend $1000 for a gun and gripe about five bucks for a bottle of oil.

i really want a ruger lcr in 9mm

Shooting the LCR a lot is probably not wise. Besides, its a self-defense piece. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2010/05/24/ruger-lcr-kaboom/ http://www.lmsdefense.com/forum/index.php?topic=6538.0

How do you get a steel ramp insert into a 1911?

That's what JB designed the 1911 to shoot. Its all I use in my EDC. The .45 ACP round is a big enough pill to cure any scumbag's disease, FMJ or not.

    KG Gunkote on a Levergun?

I would welcome any comments, good, bad, or indifferent. I'm rather afraid of going any further with this project until I hear some opinions. My main concern is whether or not the action will be sticky, and feel bad.

Rust removal the quick and painless way.

I'll have to admit, that looks pretty nice. I wonder if a copper brush and a parts cleaner tank would do the same effect? I am beginning to suspect that the flat ribbons of the potscrubber acts to "slice" the rust away, instead of digging deep into the finish. These potscrubbers are definitely...

    KG Gunkote on a Levergun?

Hi guys, I picked up a Winchester 1894, made in 1972. Its a real dog. I looked like it was used hard, then sat in someone's closet for 30+ years. The barrel and receiver in pretty sad shape. Lots of rust pitting. The action totally dry. Me thinking (as usual) how I could fix it up nice and...
