I learned a thing or two this weekend especially with my equipment.

At least half the shooters in our course had a gun with a light. We did not do the night shoot though because it was full moon every night.....I could walk out into my yard and see people 200 yards away with almost no other light....not alot of point to it unfortunately.

Benelli Nova Riot Gun, when the switch to plastic sights?

The original LPA's were all steel, wings and all. I think I will hunt up a first generation gun before they all disappear. Course the current exchange rate isn't doing us any favors either...... Thanks.

18-20 in Barrel for 870 Express

Another thing that porting will do is build up lead in the ports....This lead will then strip more lead off of passing slugs....causing them to not shoot as accurately as they might otherwise. I have no great desire to take a tiny drill bit and clean out those friggen ports....there are way...

Benelli Nova Riot Gun, when the switch to plastic sights?

Yea, the one with ghost rings. It had a pistol grip configuration and was in some kind of ugly desert camo. I would swear that the wings around the sight were plastic. The original LPAs I would swear were all steel.......Plastic is good for some things...sights NO, NADA, NEVER, NUNCA....even...

    Feeler/opinion post Remington 870 Express

I pay $125-150 for 870's. I scour the pawn shops for them, most are abandoned bird guns. I have a small stash of riot barrels for them accumulated here and there......Everything is higher in California though.

Benelli Nova Riot Gun, when the switch to plastic sights?

I was looking at a Benelli Super Nova last night at the local Gander Mountain. First thing I noticed was that the rear sight appears to be made out of plastic. When the guns first came out I would swear that they used STEEL LPA sights. The sight looks the same but appears to be made of plastic...

I learned a thing or two this weekend especially with my equipment.

I will agree on the super tight patterns. I do not understand why guys will spend all the money on a Vang Comp barrel....the whole friggen point of a shotgun is to have a PATTERN....If I wanted a pump action 4 shot rifle I would get a Remington 760! Or better yet, an AR or AK-no pumping and 30...

I learned a thing or two this weekend especially with my equipment.

Yea, even Louis commented that it was odd to have an all 870 class-usually there is one guy running a Benelli or a Winchester 1300...... The deputy that switched over to his personal M500 after the first day did fine, no issues that I saw with the gun. Flip, what are you confused about? Your...

I learned a thing or two this weekend especially with my equipment.

Flip did very well and I hope had a good time. Welcome back any time. Oh, and I don't think the two gentlemen you and I shot at the end with the large holes through their craniums will be bothering anyone anytime soon! It was interesting to note the gear progression of alot of the guys, most...

    Bulk Buckshot

What's a life worth? Depends on whose it is. I hold mine rather dearly....yours not so much...the scumbag breaking into my home with deadly intent...not at all. If you really are planning to use this ammo to possibly save your life you need to shoot it in your gun first and see what it does...

    Bulk Buckshot

Define bulk. A box of 25? A case of 200/250? Ten cases? Do you want the cheapest cr@p-1950's tech era unplated, unbuffered shot-- you can lay your hands on- or something that might actually pattern well? Low recoil or standard slugs? Things to consider. In slugs I like Brenneke though I...

    Current .45 ACP carbines

I'll probably get some ugly mail over this but the Marlin Camp guns that I have seen were JUNK! Twice I've had guys show up at Urban Rifle courses with them and they just will not take the pounding. One guy's gun constantly jammed-with Speer Lawman 230 ball out of several different name mags-...

    Best sub $1,000 OU?

Let me tell you a little story. Was a guy who wasn't very much into bird hunting. He was mainly a combat style shooter....owned many, many Remington 870's that did double duty as bird swatters the few times a year guy went out Dove hunting. Guy always thought though that doubles were pretty...

    Best sub $1,000 OU?

Local pawn shop has a Nikko for $499. Very reasonable I thought. I should go take a look before I do anything...may not even be there anymore but it was last week. Fixed chokes and I can't recall barrel length for certain. Well, needed something to do at lunch today anyhow.

    Best sub $1,000 OU?

Several things.... Why a double? Because I have over a DOZEN Remington 870's....they pretty much all look the same. Not a bad thing, they are reliable to a fault and shoot well, they are also about as exciting as a Geo Metro. I have a half dozen Browning A5's, a Benelli auto or two......I own...

    Conjecture: M&P 12

They may very well do that. They have done alot of "branding" of other designs in the past and especially recently. There is alot of consolidation going on in the firearms world and anything is possible. I can almost certainly say though that it won't be Remington's guns as they are part of...

    Best sub $1,000 OU?

Spent a few days in South Texas whitewing hunting this last weekend. Was a great time. I shot my Browning Citori and a borrowed Ruger Red Label. I liked the Red Label quite a bit but it has one feature that I did not care for and that is the automatic safety when you break the action. At times I...

    Best Promotional Shotshells?????

Boy that's great! Maybe when they get that machinery back up and producing we'll start to see some more ammo available. I don't think it will be any cheaper but at least there will be more around. It's funny to me that the article repeats something I've been saying all year- you don't just...
