Are you planning to shoot events?
If you plan on match shooting its pretty straight forward.
RRA Upper and Lowers,White Oak Uppers (awesome), Compass Lake,Fulton Armory has a following.
Forget the flattop unless your interest is Match Rifle (MR). Real riflemen shoot Service Rifle (SR)...
Ive just been at little to easy on it with the hammer and realized that it is not going to vibrate out! The rear comes right out when the pin is removed just need to be careful not to lose the ball and spring.
Thanks

The major affect I have found with my colt for shooting HP is that the tube is not floated and the rear sight adjustment is 1moa for elevation. I want to replace both.
The 2 pins on the front sight are very stubborn. I mic'ed to make sure I wasnt driving the wrong direction but they dont seem...
Can anyone point me to a sight with good pictures of how a sling is properly "slung" for typical "accros the course" match shooting? I can find some that partially show maybe the forend and about the left hand but I cant find a good pictures of a sling that shows the "Loop" or maybe a pictures...
Ref no cannelure
Its talking about not crimping on a jacketed bullet that doesnt have a crimping groove. You stand a strong chance of damaging your die and will dent the bullet jacket.
I really dont crimp a lot unless its to prevent bullet set back with heavy loads like my .454 Casull
The...
Hydrolic Action
Either the die is fouled with lube or your using too much lube, probably both. But its an easy fix. I try to use only enough lube that I can feel its there/ if you can see it its too much. Also I like to use a Q-tip with a very slight amount of lube and wipe the inside of the...
Been at it for 10 years
I've been liscensed for just about 10 years and have never had a complaint simply because I wont do anything to your gun that I have done to my own ending with the results that I expect.
I did not attend a formal smithing school (and wish I could) but I have been a...
that explains it all;)
My guess is that about any trigger replacement will require the block be removed. Jard, Timney etc.
Thanks for all the good info and links.
I want to install a Jard 3# trigger assembly in my Colt AR15 Match .223. I understand that it is neccessay to clearance the sear block. What is the initial function of the sear block that does appear in most Colts? What is the risk? I read it can be done with a dremmel. Can you tell me if Im...
Check Out ORSA (orsa.nxs.net)
You'll see shortly that Garand comp and other HP shooting venues share lotsof parallels.
The OakRidge Sportman's Association in Oak Ridge Tn has a great set-up. They also put on one of the best beginner clinics that cant be matched for getting you started. Maybe...
Can you tell who I might send my Ruger Alaskan to for the changing out of the front and rear sights.
I want to remove the stock set-in front with Meprolights Tritium front and adjustable tritium rear. It appears that a Dovetail will need to be milled to handle the front.
Really need someone...
Hawk,Your 52HPBT is very well suited to the 1/12 barrel.
This difficultly in opening the bolt you discribed is it getting progressively more difficult to open?
Is the difficulty in raising the bolt or opening the chamber (pulling the empty from the chamber)? Im guess as you raise the...
What high pressure signs are you seeing?
Really the barrel length isnt going to be playing into high pressures. What signs are you seeing? Split cases, unseated primers, flattened primers, cratered primers, are usually the first signs. Really excessive pressure can cause damage your gun and...
Why would the barrel appear to be overtightened or rotated past center? I am guessing a degree, enough the be visible. How would it be squared up?What should the gap bwtween the cylinder and barrel be? It may be about 1mm gap currently. Its a 71/2" barrel.
Need to drop the action. Can you tell me where to find the disassembly steps. Fails to cycle, bolt jams back.
I'd like to begin with a good cleaning and check for burrs.
Thanks BG
Just checked my wholesaler website and guess what.....Not available.
It was the first time I saw it listed in my wholesaler catalogs and assumed they had it in stock. not!
To make a double rifle with both barrels hitting the same spot (within 2-3") for under $600.00 would be quite a...
