Got a buddy... Tight Chamber... Need advice...

Balistics are between 30/30 and 7.62x39. Standard AR mags work just great. The beauty of the rifle is the variety of loads. you can use anything from 100gn all the way up to 240gn bullets with sub MOA accuracy. Anything from 170gn on up you can shoot sub sonic. For excellent reading visit...

How good is Prvi brass for reloading .308?

The best groups I ever shot were using Prvi .308 brass. Great stuff. I read an article a few months ago in handloader magazine... apparently norma and remington brass are the top for life expectancy with over 23 reloads each. Prvi wasnt mentioned but LC brass was and they noticed cracks at...

    9mm LRN .356 or .357?

I got the same results when I slugged my barrel. Sizing down to .356 gave me tighter groups, zero ledding, and heavy bullets I can use for reloading my 9mm... I really enjoy it when I can use one component for multiple applications. :) Resize down to .356.

    Case stuck in die

-1 for One Shot, +1 for Shoney! I had a stuck case in a Redding .308 small base sizer die yesterday and tried everything short of a dremel to get the dumb thing out. As a last resort, which should have been my first, I checked THR for some advice and came across this thread. (By this time...

Got a buddy... Tight Chamber... Need advice...

It worked... The Redding Small base sizer dies were the perfect solution for the chambering problem due to case body friction (im sure woof wil love that one). Anyhow, Im really impressed with this product and am recomending it to anyone with chambering issues on .223 and any .223 based...

    Model 1 sales uppers Good/Bad

From what I have heard, they are great. My dad bought two a few years back and they seem to be of great quality. Just get ready for the 22-26 week wait for your build. What type of upper are you planning on getting?

    Remington 700 SPS Question

Get the SPS Tactical!!! SPS TACTICAL in .308... This is an OUTSTANDING rifle... especially for the price. With Handloads I was getting .36"-.37" 3-shot groups at 100 yards. Granted, it took a bit for me to find the sweet spot. Load data for that particular round is on the image (thats two...

Got a buddy... Tight Chamber... Need advice...

Figured it out! It turns out that there is a small base die made by Redding and RCBS which addresses this exact problem. It brings the case dimensions down to SAMMI minimums which allows for chambering in virtually any rifle. They are marketed to be ideal for semi-auto's for reliability sake...

Got a buddy... Tight Chamber... Need advice...

NCsmitty, I inserted it by hand and slowly closed the bolt on it. Bucktail, I dont have any new brass, but i mic'd the dummy round and it all came out well under max factory tolerances.

Blackened.. Jim147, thanks for the blackening suggestion. I used a parafin candle to blacken a case with a bullet seated (no primer or powder). The pix are attached of the result. It looks to me that the chamber is too tight. No sign of contact arouind the neck or shoulder.

Got a buddy... Tight Chamber... Need advice...

Using Redding's FL Sizer die, the proper position for resizing already cut brass was to have the die screwed in 1/2 a turn initial touching of the shell plate. So it turned out that I was already forming the shoulder as far down the case as possible. Rather than taking metal off the die to...

Got a buddy... Tight Chamber... Need advice...

Got a buddy with a .300 fireball that needed some rounds made as a favor. As I'm such a nice guy, I figured why not try out my first wildcat for my friends benefit. I used 556/.223 once fired cases and used Redding dies to form, then cut to 1.350" and reamed and chamfered, then resized again in...

    Tru-oil - real oil?

As I understand it, its a cut between linseed oil and varnish. it produces a great rock-hard finish after bout 7 coats and 3 days of curing. I have only refinished one stock but the wood was so beat up I sanded it down to bare wood before finishing it. Attached is a photo of the unstained...

    Dented .308

I second Fred's comment. However it sounded like you have never trimmed your brass which is very old... you sould always ensure your overall length is within spec. for .308 it is 2.015.. If you trim it down to 2.0 you will be good for pretty close to the life of the case and shouldnt experience...
