Sorry, I still have to defer to Mr. Keith and say .44 spl for social work with option of .44 mag for its hunting ability. I have a lever gun and six gun in .44. I keep 200 gr GDHP in sixgun and Hornady leverevolution 240 gr plastic tips in my levergun. I like that I can shoot both out of either...
I have four of the regular XD45s. I don't have tiny hands so it fits perfectly. Don't need a "match" bbl. In a duty gun- it works every time with everything I feed it.
I'd have to agree. My 50th anniversary .44 is buttery smooth and just pretty as far as six-guns go. If anyone would care to hear what the god-father of modern sixgun loads would say- Mr. Keith said go with the .44 not the .357.
I agree with the dumbing down of the population stance. If memory serves correctly, Mr.Keith carried a DA s&w for a reason: Faster follow up shots. He would draw and cock the hammer at the same time, much like a SA, and fire into the target with the opportunity to have a quicker follow up shot...
I'd also like to add- Mr.Keith could have carried a 1911 with faster follow up shots and larger magazine capacity, and his ability with a six gun was superb; but his choice of daily carry was a D/A S&W, for faster follow up shots.
I did for a while but decided if I ever had to use it I wasn't willing to lose my revolver to an evidence locker and/or theft. I don't think it's unwise to carry it- you just have to practice with it until it's like breathing. Would anyone here take on Clint smith with a S/A? I also think 6...
Went with .44 spc bc I am a huge Keith fan and it led to my fav- .44 mag. I carry .44 spc GDHP in my sixgun for two-legged predators- and both, can be chambered in my levergun.
I own the BB in .44. Recoil on .357 should be negligible. I love mine. And it was super accurate right out of the box with the marble buckhorn sights. I will say that the octagonal bbl makes the front end a tad heavy. Smooth action though.
Cobb was the company.
Springfield made an M1a in 30-06 but stopped producing it years ago- that's what the company rep said when I called. I have heard that they are out there but hard to find.
The reason for the 30-06 and not the mag would be longevity. Mags just burn through barrels much...
I recently read on THR about a company that used to build an AR in 30-06 but was bought by bushmaster and never continued. I enjoy watching Sons of Guns and had a thought. Those guys build crazy things all the time. I want a full power (not garand loads- full power hunting loads) MBR in 30-06. I...
Also check out ESEE (formerly Randall's Adventure Training RAT) knives and Ranger Knives- the Ready Detachment series. Both have large 9" blade bowies out of 5160 or 1095 for about a hundred bucks. Both have a awesome customer service. And they are both MADE IN USA.
Check them out here...
I think this is my last and final question. The Simmons 3x9x40 scope that came with it- is it any good? The visual clarity in it is good- nice and bright. Should I just get a Leupold and bipod just to knock it up a notch?
Reloader or will you be using factory ammo?
No, reloading is something I am understanding I will eventually have to get into for price/ and to play with loads. Right now it is just factory ammo. We have a police rifle range here out to 300 and I suppose that would be a good place to start.
If...
As a corpsman, my rifle experience is limited to an M4 with an ACOG on it out to about 100m. I just bought my first bolt gun in the form of a savage 110 in 30-06. I did this because I've heard about the superb accuracy of the 110 and was able to pick up a complete at the box store for an...
